I feel so much safer today knowing that I have only a jar of loose change and a $29 Timex.

Here is another Greenville one:

2 doors smashed to loot apartment

Jewelry and electronics, valued at $4,650, were stolen Thursday from a woman's first-floor apartment in a building on Long Street in Jersey City, police reports said.

Officers saw "heavy damage" on both the building's door and the apartment's door, which were broken down sometime between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., reports said. The victim said she was missing two white gold watches - worth $3,200 and $1,000 - as well as an iPod and an Xbox game console, police said.

Burglar takes $11G, jewelry

Jewelry and $11,000 in cash was stolen Thursday afternoon from a Winfield Avenue home in Jersey City, by a burglar who seemed to know just where to look, police reports said.

According to reports, someone slipped into a bedroom of the first-floor apartment near Columbia Park between 2 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. without leaving any signs of forced entry.

The burglar took $5,000 from a dresser drawer, $3,000 from a purse in another drawer, $2,000 from a night stand drawer, $1,000 from a briefcase, and gold jewelry from a cabinet, police said.

The victim said he suspected a former tenant of the building, because he said burglaries in the area were frequent when the man lived there and dropped off when he moved out, reports said.
