Monday, December 17, 2007 By PAUL KOEPP JOURNAL STAFF WRITER A Jersey City man was blasted in the lower body with a shotgun Saturday night on Garfield Avenue, police said. According to reports, the victim was walking north on Garfield with three women shortly before 11:30 p.m., after getting off the light rail at Richard Street, when six to eight men wearing ski masks approached them. One of the men allegedly pulled out a black shotgun and shouted, "Empty out your pockets," before firing one shot, reports said. The men then fled south on Garfield without taking anything, police said. The 21-year-old victim was conscious and stable as doctors at Jersey City Medical Center worked to remove shotgun pellets from his groin and upper thighs, reports said.
