Man beaten by 5 boys spends night in hospital
Friday, November 23, 2007 A 51-year-old Jersey City man was attacked by five boys in the Greenville section of Jersey City Tuesday night and suffered head and chest trauma, cops said. Police found the Bergen Avenue victim unresponsive and bleeding heavily from cuts on his face and head on Stegman Street near Ocean Avenue at 5:36 p.m., reports said. The victim was rushed to the Jersey City Medical Center and began regaining consciousness on the way, reports said. Medical Center spokesman John McKeegan said the man was released from the hospital Wednesday. A witness said a group of boys walked up to the man, one of them said something to him about money and punched him in the face, reports said. The boy punched the man, knocking him to the ground, and they all started kicking and punching him, reports said. Witnesses said the victim was with another man, but that man didn't help him during the attack, reports said. The man also told witnesses the bloodied victim was OK and he then tried to pick the victim up, reports said. MICHAELANGELO CONTE
