Certainly the deed is not silent on the matter. If the words "parking for an autombile" or some such is mentioned it probably means just that. I'm sure such language is used.
I would imagine using spaces alternately for cars and for piles of storage material (aka junk) would be something of a nightmare...I'm surprised the condo association waited so long to enforce it.

I believe there is a fire code that does not allow storage in the garage.

The rules should be stated in your condo association's by-laws.

there is not a technical storage space. Some spots are larger than others (Hence the difference in monthly common charges and property taxes on them).

hmm, i'd like to know more about this. i sit on our condo board, and we were considering selling off some of our garage spaces to raise money for our reserve funds.
can you PM me more info? it would be helpful. id be curious to know what you paid, and if you still have monthly maintanence charges on the space. thanks.

I would think there should be a rule stating that parking spaces are for vehicles and not storage. So if that is not in any deed or bylaws you have then you might be ok...Although are the common charges you pay in conjuction with the parking area? Common areas are generally for everyone in the building and not personal storage areas. But I do not know your full situation and rules and regulations to answer correctly...just thoughts.

Question about condo/parking spot (owners rights)

I was hoping maybe someone here could help or has some guidance.
I live in a relatively new condo building where I had to purchase my parking spot. (Deeded property I pay tax and common charges on.) Many residents use parts of their parking spaces for storage, some more neatly then others. As I have run out of space with my condo I have purchased an indoor/outdoor storage box that is in front of my automobile and is locked. We just received a message from the management company today that states no storage of any type is allowed and any items in the garages will be disposed of in 7 days. My questions: 1. Since I "own" the parking spot why does the management company have any say as to what I do with it? 2. Wouldn't this rule need to be in the deed/by-laws and if not be approved by the building/board? 3. What right does the management company have to come onto property I own and touch any of my belongings?
