Forum today on uses for cop grant
Thursday, July 12, 2007 By MICHAELANGELO CONTE JOURNAL STAFF WRITER Today's public hearing at Jersey City City Hall will be a forum for discussing a $495,500 grant awarded to seven Hudson County municipalities for use by police departments in continuing quality-of-life patrols. At the meeting, police and officials will discuss the regional Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant, Police Director Sam Jefferson said. Issues to be covered include local initiatives, technical assistance, training, personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual support, information systems and traditionally funded criminal justice projects, officials said. A public meeting must be held before the federal grant administered by the county can be finalized. The meeting will be at 11 a.m. today in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 280 Grove Street.
