Gun arrest outside club
Jersey Journal -- June 12 An off-duty police officer stopped a violent uproar involving a gun in front of Bajas night club on Montgomery Street at 3 a.m. Sunday, a police report said. Willie Figueroa, 23, of Hillside, was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and aggravated assault for pointing a gun at an unidentified victim and a crowd of more than 35 people, the report said. Police saw 30 men and women in front of the club watching two men argue, with the argument escalating to a shoving match, the report said. Soon after, more people joined the shoving and shouting match, the report said. Figueroa took out his loaded gun and pointed it toward the man he was arguing with, the report said. The off-duty police officer then identified himself and ordered Figueroa to drop his weapon and get on the ground, the report said. BERNETTE PEARSON
