Hiya.

I live near the Grove St. PATH. Any basketball courts you would recommend? I know there's one on Wayne...I think there's one behind the fire house on Newark...besides that, not sure.

Thanks!

I am trying to find a indoor and/or outdoor gym/court to play some pick up hoops in the JC area. I know that the golden door charter school has a court, but is it open to the public? Anybody know of anywhere?

codero gym has basketball - and other sports too - but the problem is getting the court time. it's booked but it's a good idea to call every few months to see if anyone's stopped their game. it's free so i think people never give it up. wonder if it's still used throughout the week. would be great to get a midweek bball game in.
the gym at the golden door, which is close to newport. is great but think it's used by several school programs so court time may be hard to secure.

Call JC Recreation Dept. They have open gyms everywhere including the JC Armory.

No replies? I was wondering too. There's probably a game over at NJCU. Not sure when or what time though. Also, maybe there's a game at Grace Church, where we vote. But again, I don't have any specific information. If you do find a game, please post it or send a message.

Thanks.

I walk by Grace church every evening and there are definitely basketball games going on there weekly! I am sure you could call the church and get info on the group.

As long as they're "slow and lumbering," I might fit in. I'll check it out.

Thanks.

I've had the same problem, and wish the rec department had more programs for adults. I'd love to get a 21+ friendly league going...

Although I have never participated there are casual league games at Cordero School on Erie St, Grace Church and the Golden Door Charter school by the Holland Tunnel. I don't know how one goes about getting involved but I have seen slow, lumbering white(and black) guys playing BB at these gyms.

I'm wondering if there are any indoor basketball gyms in or around jersey city that do not require a fee. I'm looking to shoot around, but would prefer an indoor gym. Thanks.
