i just saw on TV that amazon backed out of taking office space in jersey city. i wonder if this was just a ploy by amazon to get ny to offer up more sweeteners!

The article doesn't have much details but it seems that this is a substantial lease or other acquisition of office space, not building a corporate headquarters. Given that commercial office space is one of the hardest hit sectors in the pandemic, and one that many predict will undergo a transformation post-Covid, it's good to see that Harborside's vacancies are being filled up. But I think both proponents and opponents of this deal are making it out to be more than it is.
