Can we get a description of this man ?

STOP the stupid behavior. On this particular case, that information would not do you ANY good. The man who contracted the measles is now recovering, he is not a criminal on the loose with the authorities looking for him. What you should be concerned about is whether or not you visited of the places mentioned in the article during the time frames specified.

Also, this should serve as a reminder to people about the importance of vaccinations. We are starting to see outbreaks of diseases that had long been controlled or eradicated, and as long as people such as the anti-vaxxer nuts continue to oppose inoculation using bad science to support their viewpoints, we are all at risk.

Not only is a description a valuable tool but who he his would also benefit in the quest to quell the spread of this disease. Also what I forgot to ask is what was the country abroad that he has visited ? Knowing this would help to avoid the culture of this country in our local communities till this high alert has subsided.

oh wonderful. I had blood work done recently as a normal health screening and it turns out I lost my immunity to measles (I had all the vaccines). I was scheduled to go get an MMR shot next month. Think I better go sooner.

The case of a Hudson County man who came down with the measles has prompted state health officials to warn residents of the possibility of exposure at more than a dozen locations.

The alert, issued late Friday afternoon, said the man had visited many Jersey City locations between Jan. 16 and Jan. 24, including multiple PATH stations, a drug store, a restaurant, and the Newport Mall.

The man, who is recovering, acquired the illness while traveling abroad, according to the N.J. Department of Health.

Health officials recommend that anyone who visited the locations during the dates/times listed below should contact a health provider immediately to discuss potential exposure and risk of developing the illness.

Concerned residents should call their health-care providers before heading to a medical office or emergency room. That way the arrangements can be made to reduce the risk to other patients.

Individuals who were exposed to the man could develop symptoms as late as February 14, officials warned. Measles symptoms include rash, high fever, cough, runny nose and red, watery eyes.

Measles is highly contagious, spreading through coughs or sneezes. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said the virus "can live for up to two hours in an airspace where the infected person coughed or sneezed."

"Measles is so contagious that if one person has it, 90% of the people close to that person who are not immune will also become infected," its website warns.

Measles can be serious in about of fifth of cases, hitting the young and the old particularly hard. It can also cause birth defects if a pregnant woman becomes infected.

The locations where the man visited during the period in which he was contagious are:

Christ Hospital, 176 Palisade Ave, Jersey City: January 20-January 21, between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m.; January 22, between 4:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

PATH Stations: Journal Square and Newport and PATH Train Journal Square - 33rd St Line: January 17, between 8:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.; January 17, between 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Newport Tower, 525 Washington Blvd, Jersey City: January 17, between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m.;January 18, between 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

Newport Mall, 30 Mall Dr W, Jersey City: January 17, between 12 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

145 Harborside, Plaza 2, Jersey City: January 19, between 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

LabCorp, 600 Pavonia Ave, Jersey City: January 19, between 12:00 p.m.- 2:45 p.m.

600 Pavonia Ave, Jersey City: January 19, between 12:00 p.m.- 2:45 p.m.

Duane Reade (Journal Square), 1 Path Plaza, Jersey City: January 19, between 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Square 1 Restaurant, 283 St Pauls Ave, Jersey City: January 21, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Anyone who hasn't been vaccinated or has not had measles is at risk if they are exposed to the virus. "Two doses of measles vaccine is more than 99 percent effective in preventing measles," said Dr. Christina Tan, state epidemiologist.
