$4 billion for the PATH station sounds like a lot..but its the WTC. One WTC is also costly.

Big deal if PATH loses money...doesn't the NYC subway, NJ transit, LIRR and every other mass transit system lose money.

All that $$$$ and it looks like $hit, We really need to hold these politicians accountable. We need a ferry for the masses like Staten Island. FkU THE P.A.

I met a dentist who works across from the Police Commissioner's offices and does all the work for the police chief's, detectives, union workers there. The stories he told me about the level of government skimming, corruption with unions, city departments, hospitals etc., transit that's going on in New Jersey was astonishing. It was the most interesting root canal I've ever had. If even 5% of it was true it opened my eyes to the ways corruption has been part of this state for decades and is so deep and so high it isn't going away anytime soon. I guess it makes sense why my property taxes are so high - by the time everyone has skimmed, someone has to pay...

Please read this excellent article (pre-Sandy) about the rebuilding of the WTC. It dives deep into the workings of the Port Authority and touches on the many issues surrounding PATH. Helps to understand the ever increasing costs coupled with decreasing service levels.
