It wouldn't make much sense to NOT endorse Christie but to offer to help him attract another endorsee ... that never did.

Osborne and FUlop where more then happy to let Christie hang.

Nah, he won handily. And now we know that the reason that the Ft. Lee mayor DIDN'T endorse Christie wasn't that he didn't want to, but that he feared the Bergen County Democratic machine turning on him, as well as losing business for his private law practice in retaliation. (This also came out in the under oath testimony last week. Another thing that must've upset Whizzy and Whiney).

Just think-fear of political and personal retaliation by the Democrats led to the non-endorsement by the Ft. Lee mayor! Oops!!

And it was said, under oath, at the Whizzy and Whiney official Inquisition.

Bet that made their day!

Steve Fulop, a Democrat, never did endorse Republican Gov. Chris Christie for re-election ? a decision he says prompted political retribution from the governor?s office.

But, if former Christie campaign operative Matt Mowers is to be believed, Fulop offered up some close allies who might.

In his under-oath testimony before the joint legislative committee investigating the George Washington Bridge scandal Tuesday, Mowers repeatedly said he and Republican State Committee operative Pete Sheridan met at a coffee shop with Jersey City Ward E Councilwoman Candice Osborne about her possibly endorsing Christie on advice of Team Fulop.

"Mayor Fulop?s political team recommended that we sit down with Councilwoman Osborne because they had mentioned that a number of members of council may be interested in endorsing the Governor?s reelection campaign, and mentioned her specifically," Mowers said. "So after Mayor Fulop?s political team had mentioned that we scheduled a meeting and sat down with the councilwoman."

Mowers said the Osborne meeting stemmed from an earlier one between Christie campaign manager Bill Stepien and Fulop political consigliere Tom Bertoli.

Bob Sommer, an adviser to Fulop, called Mowers? claim "absolutely false ... Neither the mayor nor anyone on his campaign staff ever arranged any meetings for governor or his campaign team with anyone in Jersey City to endorse."

Osborne never endorsed Christie.
