Ha! Classic. Any last names that are still familiar in the present generation of politicians?
By the way. I am Binky. No 'L'

Blinky, the commissioner (councilpeople were called commissioners then) who suggested this had a scrap yard business.

I always thought there's a lot of potential for City Hall. I can imagine it must cost an arm and a leg to maintain it (but it shouldn't - however, since toilet seats cost $500 for the government, you know...). I can't imagine how much it would cost to bring it back to it's former glory...

Too bad.

Aren't the spires some modern fiberglass concoction?

I wish they would rebuild the huge spires at each corner of the building. City Hall used to be a gorgeous building.

$34,000 paint job planned for City Hall in Jersey City

By Terrence T. McDonald/The Jersey Journal
January 28, 2014 at 3:45 PM

City Hall in Jersey City is about to undergo a $34,000 makeover.

The City Council is set to approve a contract tomorrow night with Bayonne firm NJ Professional Painting to paint the Grove Street municipal building?s first- and second-floor lobbies and hallways.

When Mayor Steve Fulop took office in July, he said he planned to give the 118-year-old City Hall an interior facelift. The yellow walls are uninviting and dreary, Fulop said then.

NJ Professional Painting offered the lowest of three bids. None of the firms that bid on the contract are from Jersey City.

At last night?s City Council caucus, Ward C Councilman Rich Boggiano asked Michael Razzoli, the city Department of Public Works director, why the city seeks to hire an outside company instead of having DPW painters perform the job instead.

?We don?t have enough personnel to do it,? Razzoli said.
