A 29-year-old Jersey City man has been charged with knocking a woman's teeth out and attempting to rape her in a Jersey City hotel on Friday. Jack A. Russell, whose address is listed as Academy Hotel on Academy Street (McGinley Square) in Jersey City, is charged with criminal restraint, attempted aggravated sexual assault and aggravated assault in an incident at the hotel, the criminal complaint says. Authorities say Russell repeatedly punched the woman in the face, breaking two of her front teeth. He is charged with holding the woman in a room against her will while she was in an incapacitated state. According to the criminal complaint, he undressed her and attempted to rape.. Bail was set at $175,000 cash or bond when he made his first appearance on the charges Tuesday in Central Judicial Processing court in Jersey City via video link from Hudson County jail in Kearny.
