A man who probably never needed any change for parking meters apparently lost any change he had last month when $1,000 worth of his quarters were stolen from his car, according to a police report released today. On Jan. 11, the 36-year-old Colonia man left his car for about 40 minutes for repairs at an auto body repair shop in Jersey City's Newport Mall, according to the report. After getting the car back and driving home, the man realized his blue polo duffle bag containing $800 in architectural supplies, $1,000 in quarters and various paper work was missing from the backseat, officers said. He called the supervisor of the auto body shop the next day, who told him he'd investigate the incident, the report stated. The report did not disclose why the man had $1,000 in quarters. The Jersey City Police Department did not immediately respond when asked about the $1,000 in quarters. The 36-year-old man reported the theft to Jersey City police yesterday, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing, officers said. Anyone with information about this incident should call the Jersey City Police Department's confidential tip line at 201-547-JAIL. http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/20 ... _police.html#incart_river
