I recently discovered the maximum is $700 per day for me at my bank.

I think it used to be $600 at one point and $500 before that, but I guess the bank upped the amount without alerting me.

Kidnapped, forced to withdraw cash from ATM

By LYSA CHEN
JOURNAL STAFF WRITER

A 20-year-old Jersey City man was kidnapped Thursday night and driven to an ATM machine where he was forced to withdraw $900 from his bank account, police reports said.

One man was arrested, police said.

According to reports, the victim was walking along Ege Avenue toward Martin Luther King Drive at 6:45 p.m. when two men on bicycles - including 26-year-old Sedrick Shannon of Jersey City - stopped, pointed black handguns at him and asked him to hand over his belongings.

Shannon took the victim's wallet, removing $30 and his ATM card, while the victim handed his backpack to the other man, reports said.

Shannon then waved over a dark green Mazda Millenia, pointed his gun at the victim and told him to get into the car.

The men drove the victim to a Journal Square bank, and Shannon took the victim to the ATM, where the victim withdrew $900, reports said.

Once back in the vehicle, the victim gave the men the cash and was dropped off on Ege Avenue, reports said.

Shannon was arrested on the corner of Claremont and West Side avenues and charged with robbery, kidnapping, possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of a weapon, reports said.

Police are still looking for the other two men.
