Cops: Arrest after mom points to stash
Tuesday, August 14, 2007 By KEENAN STEINER JOURNAL STAFF WRITER A Jersey City man was arrested on weapons and drug charges after his mother led police to a hefty stash of cocaine and marijuana, as well as a fake handgun, in the man's bedroom, Jersey City police said. Laquan Clark, 22, was arrested on five counts, including possession of cocaine and marijuana with the intent to distribute and possessing two imitation handguns. On Saturday, police responded to Clark's Bramhall Avenue home, on reports that people had guns there. When police arrived, a large group was outside the house fled, and one of the people dropped a fake silver handgun. Police then obtained a warrant to search Clark's bedroom after his mother requested that officers search it for drugs because she didn't want narcotics around the young children in her house. In Clark's room, police said, they found 51 small vials of suspected cocaine and 62 bags of suspected marijuana, as well as $914 in cash and a black .22 caliber imitation handgun.
