Yes, it sounds like a total over-reaction by hysterical parents and law enforcement. That being said, what is it with our Catholic priests who seem to all exhibit some sort of personality retardation. Grow up! Show some gravitas. Football is great, but I really don't want to hear about it from the pulpit. I have ESPN and Mad Dog for that. How about some bread to feed the hungry in this world of increasing darkness. This immaturity and narcissism goes all the way up to the Pope who is a goof ball. Oh for the days of Pius XII and priests who believed in Christianity.

Some may know Father Kevin who previously was pastor at St Nick's on Central Ave. in the Heights. He often jested with parishioners regarding football. It is very easy to imagine that he was bantering with the boy in question. It is very diffiicult to imagine the alleged actions that he put a rifle, loaded or not, to the boy's head. It will be interesting to find out who actually called the cops and if there was some motive behind the call.

A football loving New Jersey priest was arrested Friday for allegedly pointing a musket at an 8-year-old boy who committed the cardinal sin of cheering for the Dallas Cowboys.

Father Kevin Carter, a devout Giants fan, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated assault by pointing a firearm after allegedly threatening to shoot the child for rooting for the Giants arch-rivals, authorities said.
