Jersey City man stabbed while breaking up fight
By The Jersey Journal
on November 12, 2012

A 33-year-old Jersey City man is in critical condition after getting stabbed in the back when he broke up a fight between his girlfriend?s sister and his landlord Saturday, Jersey City police said.

Police were called to Duncan and Delaware avenues for a second time at 8:50 p.m. Saturday and found the victim bleeding from a stab wound to the upper left area of his back, reports said.

While being treated in an ambulance, the victim told police he was moving out of a basement apartment on Duncan Avenue when the younger sister of his girlfriend got into the argument with the landlord who was upset that the family wasn?t moving out fast enough, reports said.

Earlier in the day police responded there because of the same dispute. They calmed everyone down and left, reports said. After the cops left, the landlord and her younger sister began to beat up his girlfriend?s younger sister, the stabbing victim told cops.

The victim told police he broke up the fight, but as he was leaving he was stabbed by the boyfriend of the landlord?s younger sister who also had joined in the argument.

The suspect swung the knife again but missed, and the victim punched him in the face, knocking the assailant to the ground, reports said. The victim then felt dizzy and collapsed while the man who stabbed him fled the scene, reports said.

The victim was listed in a critical but stable condition at the Jersey City Medical Center after being treated for a 3-inch wide and 1-inch deep stab wound to his back. The stabbing is still under investigation, reports said.
