View Larger Map Jersey City police say man shot in neck on street at Belmont and Monticello just before 1 a.m. Saturday and group of boys fled the scene Tuesday, June 22, 2010 A Jersey City man seen being followed by a group of boys was shot in the neck early Saturday morning at Belmont and Monticello avenues, officials said. Police responded to the location at 12:49 a.m. and found the 37-year-old Lembeck Avenue man standing beside his parked car and bleeding from the right side of his neck, reports said. A witness said he saw the man speaking to the group of boys and when the victim walked away they followed him, reports said. The witness said he heard a single gunshot and when he ran to see what happened found the victim bleeding and the boys running away, reports said. Another witness said she heard someone yell "Don't rob my cousin!" just before the shot rang out, reports said, adding that police found one spent shell at the location. The victim was rushed to the Jersey City Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition. MICHAELANGELO CONTE
