Three boys, ages 13, 14 and 15, charged with robbing Bayonne man in Jersey City

The 4-year-old brother of one of three Jersey City teens arrested on robbery charges was tagging along with the trio when police caught them trying to rob a 23-year-old Bayonne man in Greenville this weekend, officials said yesterday.

The 13-year-old Bartholdi Avenue boy, a 14-year-old Ocean Avenue boy, and a 15-year-old Bartholdi Avenue boy, were arrested on Saturday after the 6:23 p.m. robbery on Garfield Avenue when officers on patrol saw the victim, who lives on Avenue B, trying to get away from them, reports said.

When the boys saw the police cruiser they walked away and the man told the officers he was leaving work when he was approached by the three boys, who yelled and cursed at him and threatened to beat him up, reports said.

The Bayonne man said when he took out his phone to call someone, the 14-year-old tried to grab it and then threatened to beat him up if he didn't hand it over, reports said.

Police picked up two of the boys and while driving them to the juvenile bureau they spotted the 14-year-old who was still with his little brother, and they were picked up as well, reports said, adding that the victim identified the three teens as his attackers.

The 4-year-old was transported to his home by police and his mother was notified that her 14-year-old son had been arrested, reports said.

The three teens charged were remanded to the Hudson County Youth House in Secaucus, reports said.
