More than $200,000 worth of merchandise donated by the New York Yankees to Arya Samaj Mandir ministries in Jersey City was stolen yesterday morning, police said.

The clothing was going to be shipped to Ghana this weekend, according to police, and was being stored in a garage in the back of the building.

Between 2 and 3 a.m., someone entered the Woodlawn Avenue property by cutting a hole in the metal fence in back of the building with a bolt cutter, police said.

Taken from the garage were 3,600 baseball caps, valued at $108,000; 2,040 blue cotton T-shirts, valued at $122,400 and numerous mesh batting jerseys as well as a red lawnmower valued at $800, reports said.

The caps, T-shirts and jerseys all featured different New York Yankees logos and insignias.
