Re: Buying on Webster Ave

Yardl3y,
Do you mind if I ask if you are buying a house or a condo? We are selling our single family house on Bowers Street between Sherman and Hancock. It's a nice neighborhood and we haven't had any problems, other than the occasional issues that "someone with urban patience" (I like that JerseyMom!) can deal with. You can walk to the 9th street light rail elevator from our door in about 8-10 minutes.
Not giving you the hard sell, but if you are interested, let me know!
Mosey.

I have a purification system from Aquasana. It is great, and they have a "water for life" program where all of the components are covered for life. I would highly recommend it.

Abbott Pre-School in the Heights?

Hi all,
I was just wondering if anyone can recommend a good Abbott Pre-School in the Heights? I am aware that Primary Prep in Journal Square has a good reputation, but that might be a little too out of the way for us next year.
Please let me know!
Thanks,
Mosey

Monthly Parking in the Heights?

Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone knew of a long term parking situation in the Heights. I searched the sight, but couldn't find anything. Something within a few blocks of Sherman and Bowers would be preferred.
Thanks!

Just stopped by for lunch.
REALLY good pulled pork sandwich with a side of spicy sweet potato mash (also fantastic)!
It definitely seems like they are still getting together from a customer service standpoint, but the food is definitely great.
Worth a trip. I am not sure if they deliver for lunch. They didn't even have a menu....

In my experience, the area radiating out from the 9th street Light Rail is the most "up and coming" in the Heights. People are really friendly, and everyone I know in the area loves the fact that they can walk into Hoboken if they want to, or they can still get some amazing food on Central Ave.

Kuba,
My wife and I have been living in the Heights for almost 3 years now, and really dig it. As others here have stated, there is a lot of good food up here, great neighbors and the transportation in to NYC is pretty abundant (between buses, Light Rail, etc.). We lived in Hoboken for years, and are still able to walk there via the Light Rail elevator in 10 minutes.
My wife recently got a job out in Mercer County, and unfortunately we are going to be re-locating due to what would be a pretty serious commute from here.
We haven't put our home on the market yet, but were thinking about doing so in the next month or so. It definitely fits the bill for what you are looking for (single family, 1800+ sq ft, under $500K). If you are at all interested, shoot me a private message (or whatever it's called on here) and I can give you the details.

I live on that block, but I didn't hear the incident, and I haven't heard anything about it! I would really love to know the details if something did happen.

Hey all,
I just wanted to give Made With Love a little more love....
My wife and I stopped in for the communal dinner last night, and it was fantastic! Great food, great company, great music!
We will definitely be back!
Thanks Celeste

OK Cerulean, your persistence finally wore me down. I sent a request as well. Love Trader Joe's, but hate driving to Edgewater!
PS - My 2 year old loves the mini shopping carts at TJ's!

Vigilante,
On picture quality, I have found that there is no contest between FIOS and Comcast. I brought home a 32" Toshiba a couple years ago, hooked up Comcast HD, and it was awful. Switched to FIOS, and not only did all channels (SD and HD) look worlds better, but there was a much larger selection of HD channels (I don't know if this is still the case).
That being said, Verizon's billing SUCKS! You must watch your bill like a hawk because they are constantly trying to nickel and dime you to death. If the picture quality wasn't so fantastic, I probably would have dumped them due to the poor billing.
My 2 cents..

I am going to put in my vote for Gino's in the Heights. Their regular pie is just servicable, but they have a pie called the Grandma which is outstanding. It is pretty much what my Sicilian grandma used to make when I was a kid. Square, but not thick crusted, with a sweet, garlic-y sauce and not too much cheese. I highly recommend it!

tko, I hear you on both counts... we loved gr8 taste and were completely bummed to see it go! A coffee shop would be fantastic, but I think it might be a while unfortunately.

My wife and I have been in the Heights for about 2.5 years, and really like it for the most part. We had some problem renters across the street when we first moved in, but a concerted phone campaign to the police amongst the neighbors put an end to that after about 4 months.
Overall, we are really happy with our living space/block and having a backyard in an urban setting is a fantastic thing!

Hey All,
I have been a lurker for a while here, but decided to sign up today to give some love to Made With Love!
My wife and I had some family in town last night and, since we have a 4 week old baby, we didn't really want to cook for eight people. We decided to give Made With Love a shot, because we try to eat organic food as often as possible, but also because of all the positive comments on JCList.
Man, did "sweetie" come through for us! Two perfectly cooked chickens with fantastic roasted sweet potatoes and sauteed spinach on the side....and don't forget the fantastic apple pie as well!
Was it a little pricey? Yes. Was it worth it? Absolutely!!! I am firm believer in "you get what you pay for", and frankly I am willing to pay for fresh, healthy food cooked to perfection!
Don't want to get too verbose, so I will sign off for now, but I am sure I will be posting regarding other JC related stuff soon!

PS - I am a functional illiterate when it comes to posting on these kind of boards, so if I am doing something incorrectly, or out of protocol, please let me know...
