we recently moved near the the previously mentioned park recently, and think its absolutely beautifu,l safe, and quiet.

i love talking to some of my older neighbors who definitely make it a "neighbor" hood. judicke's has great cakes and pastries, joe's pizza has the best pizza anywhere, and there is even a little takeout taqueria. don't get me started about the awesomeness of hendricksons.

The worst thing for any community is to have people around who think that treating others with intolerance and disrespect is a good thing to do.

Hating on people different than you, from any side of the spectrum, might not seem as damaging as say, irresponsible people shooting guns into the air or drunks yelling at each other in the streets, but it still gives people an bad impression of the city, at a time when random violence and corrupt government have already tarnished whatever thin veneer of pride for Jersey City might be left, or progress others try to make towards keeping JC a nice, inclusive place for all different types of people to live.

I have been knitting for a long time. I learned when I was little and I picked it back up about 9 years ago.

Anyway, it might be a fad for some people who are not as inclined, but there is a beautiful garden out back to have a coffee and dessert, and they are open early for all those people that pass by on their way to work in the morning.

I look forward to getting some fresh skeins once I finish a few quick projects.

For some reason, I couldn't find the info on the Hudson Bergen Light Rail site.

I guess my intertubes need a tune up.

Thanks.

As a city dweller, you do need to call up USPS for a pick up or use this handy link to carrier pickup.

You stated that you have already done this, but in my experience, the Montgomery office needs extensive and vigorous followup.

Otherwise, you could just bring it to the window at the post office, like any other package, you just have the benefit of having already paid for it.

How safe you feel depends on how you carry yourself and if you are merely going to get a place at the Liberty Lofts and lock your car into the parking deck and zoom to the grocery store/pharmacy/bodega in you nice car rather than walking around your neighborhood.

I think that locking yourself up in an Ivory Tower in the middle of unfamiliar territory may put you at somewhat of a disadvantage. I feel that part of living in a city is experiencing the local flavor, but YMMV.

I should admit that I don't often find myself in that area, just to kick around, which is a shame since I have heard that Irma's over by the precinct house has some of the best BBQ anywhere, but I have had times when I needed walk up to pick my car up from being impounded when they were paving and some smart@ss took the signs down.

Take the same advice we tend to give everyone else. Walk around the area at all different times of day and night and see what the place is actually like and judge for yourself if it is a place you can see yourself in.

Re: 10 Ugly Buildings JERSEY CITY Would Be Better Off Without

There is a blog called www.newyorksh*tty.com which shows that the new builds in Brooklyn are uglier and most likely less sustainable than those in Jersey City.

At least we get a Koolhaas, perhaps before I am 50.

But back on topic.

I would like to see the Mack-Cali building near the Path station updated to fit the rest of what is going up in the area.
The high-rises are not my style, but they are going up and hopefully there will be room for all of us in Jersey City in the times to come.
