Are you looking for some extracurricular academic activities for your child this Summer?
There is still time to register for Chess classes in SchoolPlus Hudson! This Summer, introduce your children to Chess and give them the gift of learning and mastering the immortal game of kings. This course is for complete beginners and children who have had some exposure to chess before. Theoretical knowledge is supported with games in class. Children play the game in every class, against each other and the instructor. Classes are taught by an experienced professional chess coach.

Summer 2014 Schedule:

SchoolPlus Hudson is very excited to announce our 2nd Open Chess Tournament for Children which will be taking place this Saturday, November 9th!

Players of all levels are invited to join!
The tournament will take place from 11 am to 2 pm (please arrive between 10:30 and 10:45 am to sign in).
Students will play in two groups, Beginner and Intermediate/Advanced.

Pizza and prizes for everyone! Top three players in each group will receive trophies.

Registration is REQUIRED (due to limited space)! Please register on our website, http://www.school-plus.com/hudson
When: Saturday, November 9th, 11am - 2pm
Where: Boys and Girls Club, 1 Canal St Jersey City (at the intersection of Grand and Grove Streets); Free parking is available (first come, first serve basis)
Fee: $15 per child ($10 for students currently enrolled in Chess classes offered by SchoolPlus Hudson)

Please note: While parents are not allowed into the room where the tournament will be taking place, there is a waiting area available with tables and chairs.

Yes, we did (and still do) have 1 spot left in this class as it's limited to only 8 kids altogether. It's a great class for kids who are in 3rd or 4th grade and are looking to learn new language and story-telling skills, tap into their own creativity and further explore their love and understanding of English language.

Creative Writing (Gr. 3-5)

Everyone has a story to tell. This class will explore elements of story-telling (e.g., character, conflict, climax, and resolution) that make for strong creative fiction. Students will both read and write poems, short stories, and plays in the process of growing their vocabulary and grammar skills - skills useful for school and while preparing for the tests. Students will share their original work in the classroom "workshop" and learn valuable techniques for editing and revising their work that will transfer to their writing across all disciplines. As a final project, students will put together a literary journal of the their best work from the class.
