Re: Gentrification?

Home away from home

One needs to weigh the comparative positives and negatives of gentrification.

Sidewalks full of self-important mommies pushing triple wide strollers is not good.

Sidewalks full of self-important mommies pushing triple wide strollers in lieu of a shootout every other day on the same sidewalk is good.

HEY! After much "on-site study", stuck in that area in the mornings, I figured out long ago that the traffic is all screwed up in that area.

Seriously, how much of the crime here do you think would be averted if there were State Troopers stationed at the Skyway and 1&9 Bridge?

Sort of like our own 'Checkpoint Charlie'.

Re: Son of Jersey City schools chief Charles Epps Jr. in stable condition after car incident

The full article:

Epps' son hurt in fall from car Tuesday, March 24, 2009 By CHARLES HACK JOURNAL STAFF WRITERS

The 22-year-old son of Jersey City Schools Superintendent Charles T. Epps Jr. is in critical but stable condition after falling out of a moving car in Hoboken early Sunday morning, officials said yesterday.

Jonathan C. Epps suffered head trauma after tumbling from the car in front of 79 Park Ave. at 2:41 a.m., officials said. He remained in the intensive care unit at the Jersey City Medical Center yesterday, surrounded by family members and friends, officials said.

A spokeswoman for Jersey City Public Schools declined to comment, saying it is a private matter for the family.

Jonathan Epps, whose mother is County Prep Principal Barbara Mendolla, is a former student of St. Peter's Preparatory High School in Jersey City and studied at St. Peter's College until 2006, officials said.

"I am saddened to hear about Jonathan Epps' accident," Hudson County Schools of Technology Superintendent Frank Gargiulo said in a statement. "On behalf of the entire HCST, my heart goes out to his family, and I pray that he recovers fully."

jcecker, jcecker, jcecker following your train of thought if a teacher went out and had the same type of incident the superintendant of school would be responsible for the teachers conduct outside the scope of the teachers employment. Or, lets say a businessman cracks up a car while dui or gets arrested with drugs it would be the corporation CEO who is responsible. People are responsible for their own conduct.

I call BS.

While the superintendent or CEO may not be legally responsible for the teacher or businessman, they do represent a larger organization who is their employer and as such, have an obligation to reflect positively on that org.

As the 'employer' of Healy and Co., I find this repetitive behavior not befitting the positions I've collectively employed them in, and as such will be 'firing' them come election day.

I hope my fellow 'board member' (taxpayers) do the same.

Re: Bergen Lafayette: Man shot twice in leg while he urinates in public

Quote:
The 28-year-old Woodward Avenue resident said he woke up feeling hungry and decided to drive to Communipaw Avenue to get some breakfast, reports said.

On the way he felt the urge to urinate and drove to the end of a dead-end of Van Horne Street near Bramhall Avenue.

He told investigators that after getting out of the car to relieve himself, he felt a "hard object" against his right thigh, which he instinctively pushed away and turned out to be a gun, reports said.

He then heard a two or three shots and saw the shooter running away, reports said.

The victim drove himself to the hospital where he was treated for a gunshot wound from small caliber weapon to the front left leg just above the ankle and rear right calf, reports said.

However, the victim stopped cooperating with the police during the interview, reports said.

You have to read this again.....

1. Shooter apparently snuck down a whole alley without the 'pee-er' noticing until the gun was pressed against his leg.

2. 'Pee-er' then DROVE himself to the hospital where he STOPPED cooperating with police.

How drunk or stoned do you think this guy was?

I think Morton Williams started this thread.

10 years and never a problem at that A&P.

Also, too many people moving here who seem to feel their day is wasted unless they can turn their noses up at something.
