It says I was charged 300% for prime time. I did not see this stated when I booked the ride. This was roughly 1am so it was not due to traffic. It was starting to snow. Is it possible to have your rate change during your ride depending on the conditions you encounter?

I have a question regarding Lyft. I recently took one home from Princeton. The fare said $45.00 but I was charged $215.00. I know there are peak times with higher rates but shouldn't that be stated when you agree. I have sent an email to them without any response. I did notice today I was sent an email to rate my driver but nothing about my fare. Has anyone experienced this? Should I have my credit card reject the charge? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

This might be a bit of an exaggeration but it makes a point and seems relative to the discussion.

You have two families: "Joe Legal" and "Jose Illegal". Both families have two parents, two children, and live in California.

Joe Legal works in construction, has a Social Security Number and makes $25.00 per hour with taxes deducted.

Jose Illegal also works in construction, has NO Social Security Number, and gets paid $15.00 cash "under the table".

Ready? Now pay attention...

Joe Legal: $25.00 per hour x 40 hours = $1000.00 per week, or $52,000.00 per year. Now take 30% away for state and federal tax; Joe Legal now has $31,231.00.

Jose Illegal: $15.00 per hour x 40 hours = $600.00 per week, or $31,200.00 per year. Jose Illegal pays no taxes. Jose Illegal now has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal pays medical and dental insurance with limited coverage for his family at $600.00 per month, or $7,200.00 per year. Joe Legal now has $24,031.00.

Jose Illegal has full medical and dental coverage through the state and local clinics at a cost of $0.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal makes too much money and is not eligible for food stamps or welfare. Joe Legal pays $500.00 per month for food, or $6,000.00 per year. Joe Legal now has $18,031.00.

Jose Illegal has no documented income and is eligible for food stamps and welfare. Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal pays rent of $1,200.00 per month, or $14,400.00 per year. Joe Legal now has $9,631.00.

Jose Illegal receives a $500.00 per month federal rent subsidy. Jose Illegal pays $500.00 per month, or $6,000.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has $ 31,200.00.

Joe Legal pays $200.00 per month, or $2,400.00 for insurance. Joe Legal now has $7,231.00.

Jose Illegal says, "We don't need no stinkin' insurance!" and still has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal has to make his $7,231.00 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, etc.

Jose Illegal has to make his $31,200.00 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, and what he sends out of the country every month.

Joe Legal now works overtime on Saturdays or gets a part time job after work.

Jose Illegal has nights and weekends off to enjoy with his family.

Joe Legal's and Jose Illegal's children both attend the same school. Joe Legal pays for his children's lunches while Jose Illegal's children get a government sponsored lunch. Jose Illegal's children have an after school ESL program. Joe Legal's children go home.

Joe Legal and Jose Illegal both enjoy the same police and fire services, but Joe paid for them and Jose did not pay.

And this us from my link. A shame that you have to resort to your own "facts" to defend criminals:

Improper Entry Is a Crime

To be clear, the most common crime associated with illegal immigration is likely improper entry. Under federal criminal law, it is misdemeanor for an alien (i.e., a non-citizen) to:
Enter or attempt to enter the United States at any time or place other than designated by immigration officers;
Elude examination or inspection by immigration officers; or
Attempt to enter or obtain entry to the United States by willfully concealing, falsifying, or misrepresenting material facts.
The punishment under this federal law is no more than six months of incarceration and up to $250 in civil penalties for each illegal entry. These acts of improper entry -- including the mythic "border jumping" -- are criminal acts associated with illegally immigrating to the United States.

Like all other criminal charges in the United States, improper entry must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt in order to convict.

What is wrong with you people? Get back on topic. This is about reporting illegal aliens that are criminals. No one is suggesting going after law abiding immigrants

A simple modern flyover bridge would easily solve that but could you imagine the totally incompetent city planners trying to get that off the ground.

i.e. Observer Hwy + Pulaski Skyway Nightmare.

I have often thought of that as a solution. I have decided however that the NJTP would lose too much revenue so I'm sure it would never happen. Jersey City growing as it is definitely needs more access.

I know you're mostly trolling and will never back down on your blind support, but your continued claims that this was a landslide are getting tiresome. He flipped a couple key states.

Donald Trump owes his victory in the Electoral College to the three states he won by the smallest number of votes: Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan. So it's fair to say that the 2016 presidential election was decided by about 100,000 votes out of more than 120 million ballots cast.

According to the latest tallies, Trump won Pennsylvania by 1.1 percentage points (68,236 votes), Wisconsin by 0.9 points (27,257 votes), Michigan by 0.2 points (11,837 votes). If Clinton had won all three states, she would have won the Electoral College 278 to 260. She fell short in all three, of course, and that's why we are now getting accustomed to the reality of President-elect Donald J. Trump.

.

Congratulations! You solved it! But when California seceds as threatened the Dems will not win another election. Btw since you probably don't understand sarcasm I do not think this will happen but it is pointless that keep arguing the popular vote. The election is not based on a popular vote. Donald would have simply spent time campaigning in blue states

Caj11, to the extent those stories do not involve bankruptcy, and involve business owners who performed good work (this seems to be disputed in several cases), then I agree there should be no problem paying what you originally agreed. To the extent he was a deadbeat, no one's perfect.

Regarding your second point, I totally disagree, and frankly don't care what the rest of the world thinks. Not sure why anyone would. I care about enforcing the border, helping Americans get put back to work, and fighting against political correctness. From your attitude, it seems you have preconceived notions how his presidency will go, and you may not give him a fair chance. Hopefully you reconsider.

Two things -

1. Do you pay your bills in full and on time? I do. I agree, nobody's perfect, but Trump has story after story of not paying his bills and his imperfections have made lives difficult for a lot of people in New York and New Jersey. They have essentially subsidized Trump's limousines, helicopters, yachts and airplanes. If he has ANY heart at all, he'll sell some of his assets to pay the money he rightfully owes that wasn't discharged in his bankruptcies. I don't care how long ago these debts were incurred - better late than never.

2. Regarding enforcing the border, do you think that his delusional plan to build a wall between the US and Mexico will do much to solve the illegal immigration problem? Even if he is successful in building the wall, then many of the undesirables will just stay here rather than go back to Mexico after they've earned enough money. The porous border between the US and Mexico is not an ideal situation, but I think a wall would probably make things worse. Furthermore, if Trump has such a problem with illegals WHY did he hire them when he was building the Trump Tower?

http://time.com/4465744/donald-trump-undocumented-workers/

Or at his modeling agency?

http://www.aol.com/article/2016/08/31 ... egal-immigrants/21463003/

Seems like it's all right for him to use illegals when it benefits him personally, but when he runs for and becomes President, he advocates for their deportation because of course that's the ideal political stance. I'm sure there are still illegals working in his hotels and resorts today - you are never going to staff your entire housekeeping department without them. Talk about hypocrisy.

JERSEY CITY — Mayor Steve Fulop today joined a chorus of Democratic mayors nationwide who have tried to reassure immigrants rattled over last week's election of Donald J. Trump as president, saying the city will remain a so-called "sanctuary city" for undocumented residents.

"Jersey City remains the golden door to this country for immigrants and that will not change despite a change in the presidency," Fulop said in a statement. "Our policies, principles and our city, as a whole, will remain a welcoming community for immigrants and families."

You are proud he is harboring criminals and telling illegals to come and be safe here? All that I have read states Trump is only going after criminals.

Some of us judge him by what he has done, like leaving a trail of stiffed contractors, bankruptcies, and molested women, rather than what he says he will do.

Regarding the stiffed contractors and bankruptcies, I've been to a few friends' BBQs in central and southern Jersey, and I met more than one family who went without a Christmas after the Taj Mahal filed bankruptcy, because their family run businesses had been sub-contractors or vendors for that property. Most got around 33 cents on the dollar of what they were owed if they were lucky. Many long-time family owned small contractor businesses were simply ruined after Trump used the bankruptcy process to weasel out of paying what he rightfully owed. Despite all those families being ruined and going to work for other contractors or any menial job they could get, do you think Trump ever stopped riding around in his limousines, yachts and helicopters after the Taj's three separate bankruptcies? I doubt it. His lifestyle was not affected.

It's not just this that matters though - Trump has zero elected experience. He is as qualified to run this country as Jesse Jackson was when he ran in 1984. If you're going to run for the most powerful elected office in the world, you should have *some* lower office experience first - you don't need to be a career politician like Bernie Sanders, but at least one lower level elected office would be nice.

Trump is not an honorable man. How can you blame him though. Blame the DNC the media and the Liberal elite who pushed Clinton on the voters.

That's a good one! How can liberals learn from Brexit when they know everything already? As far a 2018? The only thing reason the house was in play is because more Republican seats were up for election. Next time it will be more Democrat seats with a chance for the repubs to add. In Austin, Texas, protesters blocked a highway. Students burned a flag on the campus of American University in Washington, and they walked out of class in high schools and colleges across the country the day after the presidential election.

"Not my president, not today," was a chant heard at protests from Boston to Los Angeles.

In downtown Los Angeles, high school students crowded the steps of City Hall on Wednesday afternoon. Protester Brooklyn White was holding a sign that said "Hate won't win." The 18 year old voted for Hillary Clinton and was disappointed.
