Re: Fulop to solicit proposals from for-profit companies to replace FOL in running the Loew’s theater
Home away from home

The seats cannot be legally installed without the safety rails, which need to be professionally fabricated and installed. The city decided to renege on the funds to do that after making multiple commitments to do so. Just like they did for the air conditioning system replacement.

The theater was not usable for any functions at all that far back.

So, any other FACTS from the spin machine you want to share with us, shill? It's kind of silly that you think anyone will take anything that a sock puppet account posts seriously BTW. From what pre-school does the mayor draw support?

Balcony seats are not isntalled because the city (and mayor) deadbeated on promised funds to do so.

So, another shill..

Meh.. I voted for the guy and still think he's a transparent political climber who is pushing several measures that will harm the city.

Healy is no longer the mayor. You can't cover for Fulop's own failings by looking backward.

Anyone can say a joke. The issue is whether it's stupid to antagonize a substantial portion of your electorate to do so. It speaks of a level of social stupidity more than anything else. It's very common with people who consider themselves the brightest person in the room. They like to overuse irony, not realizing it makes them look awkward and trying too hard to be edgy/funny.

I don't think he was serious, but still a dumb thing to say. It's an indication he is not even close to ready for higher office.

I don't know that it would comply if the required label has to have specific content.

Yeah, and other states require a label on any liquor sold, so some brewpubs print their own and put them on growlers that they refill. They come off with warm water, but they technically obey the regulation.

If the issue is with branded growlers, sell generic empty ones that you can fill. I am sure many patrons would appreciate it, and would give you repeat business.

My mistake.. sorry for the error.

But that still highlights the issue that this project is under-budgeted. If the theaters are comparable, where will the additional funds come from, and will the City be required to supply them as part of the contract?

The track at Lincoln Park is nice, and the circit of the entire park is about 2 miles as well.

It's another sellout, though not as bad as the CarePoint/McCabe fiasco. I bet you he tries to still do that one under cover of a specially crafted RFP that only they can satisfy.

So we get a shill posting on the mayor's behalf now. They really need better social networking in City Hall.

The City is planning on sinking $30MM into this project, and turning it fully over to a private company that has no tie to the community after stonewalling the volunteer group. The safety and other changes that could have been done with the modest amount of money they asked for would have allowed year round operation, and instilled enough confidence to allow real fund raising to occur.

Basically, the mayor put a shiv into the civic restoration and running of the theater, and then criticized them for bleeding.

Look at the linked project.. a $750MM projected cost. Where will money come from to do this here?

Almost ran down two kids salmoning the other day. A**holes. They were not only doing that, but going straight through a stop sign without pause.

I ride a bike and motorcycle, and prefer not to be a self absorbed jackass who puts the grief of killing someone on some innocent driver. Aside from that, a pedestrian has right of way over a bike.

The problem with Ayn Rand is that she starts from the idea that private action always good, public action always bad, and that the masses are the equivalent of thieves. Of course, she wound up destitute and on welfare.

Re: As American Cities Grow, New Urbanism Must Be Inclusive

The issue with that neighborhood in particular is the lack of modern mixed use zoning. That neighborhood could have been special. Instead, it's got almost no real amenities, and barely anything to do.

A properly redeveloped Square or Ocean Avenue will be loads more attractive.

The issue with PH is the idiotic single use zoning,. and the extremely boring architecture.

I agree on the sentiment in some ways, but as for Atlas Shrugged, even a disingenuous, hypocritical, malicious, idiot clock can be right twice a day. Any wisdom imparted by that book is purely accidental.

Noting that your neighborhood is banal and dull is not bigotry, it's an opinion on the boring buildings, design, layout and amenities.

Everyone gets the benefit of the doubt. You've already shown yourself to be an elitist.

They will still be much more affordable than larger luxury rentals.

I am talking about if it was a replay of the last election, and knowing he would be like this anyway.

Even in the future.. it depends on who he is against. Sad to say, but there are worse.

Besides, he has no hope of being governor, so if he realizes it, some of this behavior may reverse. If he does that before in a way that builds a decent track record, I can forgive some things.

If I ever so a teardown of my place up by JSq, and take advantage of the three story zoning, I would do it in a minute.
