How many shares did you get?

While people were on iphone 6 line I was trying to put in a limit order on alibaba. The fidelity website using my laptop was hanging for over 2 hours and could not even trade other stocks. The site traffic was so high as if the website was hit by DOS attack. Could not get a trader over the phone either. But guess what, I downloaded the fidelity app on my iphone5 and put in the trade and got the opening bid within 2 seconds when it opened on the NYSE. Hindsight waiting for few hours I could have picked it up at $90 but hey you never know. That's what your smart phone does for you.

Going back to this thread. My time is more important than waiting on some line and rather waste some of it here reading jclist gossip sometimes .

Fishing on the Pier
Home away from home
Home away from home

Hi folks - I'm interested in trying out fishing on the pier. I assume I'll need a fishing license? If my family of four goes to fish, do I need four fishing licenses, or just a "family" license (does it exist)?

Besides the other obvious (poles, bait, etc), anything else I need to have?

TIA.

Yeah, I've heard. But the hubby wants it (he's just a fanatic, not a gambler, thank God!)

Yes, a hospital may be better equipped than a home. However, you can catch a LOT OF other scary stuff from the hospital too! I've heard of many pregnant women who got infections from the hospital.

This is not a black-and-white case of hospital-is-100%-better-than-home-delivery. It's about assessing your pregnancy / fetus risks, and being prepared, and have plan-B, and even a Plan-C ready for "just in case".

Thx! Once the kiddos are back in school, I think I'll plan a trip to Thriftique.

According to their website, it's 3 blocks away from the Light Rail. Is it a safe walk during the day for a petite woman? Not familiar with that area.

THx!

Do they have much furniture there? Looking for a dinning room table + chairs. Wondering if worth a trip out there via the Light Rail.

As tempting as an easy dump at 9th street sounds, I think I'll play it safe and call the JCIA. Don't have a car, and I think it'll look suspicious if I load the vanity and sink on my bright red granny cart and lug it all way the way to 9th str. HA!

Thanks for the info and the phone number.

I have a 31" bathroom vanity top and sink to dispose of - can I leave them out with regular garbage? Probably not.

If so, what should I do?

Thanks in advance!

I agree with Conformist: I haven't visited those places yet, even though I've lived in downtown for 8+ years, and that's only because those places are not accessible easily with public transportation (we don't have a car).

I'm happy to take public transportation and have visited many places via Light Rail, and buses in JC over the years.

By the way, I should also add that I think the roof is deeded to the top floor unit (even though it's a common element for the condo assoc).

Does that make a difference?

Stoop sale along path of Puerto Rican Parade - legal?
Home away from home
Home away from home

I live on Montgomery, along the route of the Puerto Rican parade, and I'm thinking about doing a stoop sale on sunday during the parade.

Does anyone know if that's against any laws or ordinance (something like blocking / hindering flow of pedestrian)??? I'm mostly doing used clothing sale, and will just be hanging them on my fence. So it won't be in the middle of the sidewalk or anything.

Just thought I'd check - don't want to end up with a ticket or anything like that.

Thanks!

Re: New PATH Station - Marion
Home away from home
Home away from home

How about this Yvonne:

Assumed Facts:
1. the PATH system is currently at capacity: for the sake of argument, let's say 20 trains per hour during rush hour (I don't know what the real number is, this is only an example), and

2. there are no "spare" tracks in the PATH system (like the "dedicated" express tracks for the NYC subway)

Following rules of logic, if the system is already at capacity with 20 trains, even if you add one more train (express or not), not all of those original 20 trains will be able to make it within the hour. Hence, someone will be delayed going to their work.

ANd how can a train be "express" when it still needs to wait for all trains ahead of it to do their regular stops? Yes, it may not open its doors to let people in/out, but it still needs to wait (for previous local trains to do that) - since there's no skipping ("leapfrong") trains because there are NO SPARE TRACKS for those "express" trains to travel on???

In this case, if a local train takes 30 minutes to go from JSQ to WTC, it will take the express train the same time - because it's stuck behind the local train!!!

It's obvious that you're preaching to the wrong choir here.

We are a small building of 5 individual units, and our quarterly bills are roughly $900 (+/- $100) - that's for the entire building. Just want to post as a reference here.

They ask me to monitor my water usage by reading the meter before and after I wake up and there's not much difference. I got someone to check for leaks and their wasn't any... I asked could their be something wrong and if they can get someone out, but they said their shouldn't be a problem since the meter was recently replaced last year...

The bill I received today is as follows:
Usage in hundreds of Cubic Feet: 71
Water Charges: $283.29
Water Facilities Charge: $18.81
Sewer Charges: $386.95
Total Current Charges: $689.05

I'm a first time owner and I've compared bills with relatives and theirs about or less than 1/3 of what I?m paying...

Also, anyone has opinion about "cultured marble"? I've read some articles online, most of which say they're easy to maintain / great for the price point, durable and can last a long time, etc.

Just want to hear if anyone has personal experience / feedback, would much appreciate it!

Good point about seeing it in person! THe one I linked below is the cheapest one that I found on Home Depot's website (and Lowes has one with a similar price point as well) and is currently in stock in store. However, all the higher end (more expensive) models listed on their websites are not in stock in the stores.

Does anyone know where would be a good place to check out higher end "integrated top + sink" units - definitely want to see and feel the difference in person.

We own our place, and definitely want to add something nice, and something that can last a long time. We just don't want to get another undermount sink - I'm tramatized by our current fallen sink, and just don't ever want to deal with another falling sink again.

TIA.

Hi everyone - while doing my research, I found these "integrated top + bowl" thingies, like this one. I was thinking maybe we'll rip out the exiting vanity top with the old sink, and just plug in one of these!

Our existing cabinet is a standard 31" x 22" - so I should be able to put in one of these integrated top with the existing vanity cabinet bottom, right?

Any advice / suggestions much appreciated! You guys are great!
