Ed Rendell: ?Not only can Chris Christie not win-I think he may have trouble finishing out his term?

Former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell say Governor Chris Chrisite is a "non-factor" in 2016 presidential race. Jeb Bush is new front runner he says.?

?Not only can Chris Christie not win, I think he may have trouble finishing out his term,? Rendell said Tuesday at the Rebovich Institute at Rider University. He added later: ?There?s absolutely no chance that he didn?t know this was going on if he didn?t order it or OK it. So I think he?s not a factor.??

?I mean, I look at it from the perspective as a very activist governor, which I was and he is,? he said. ?There is no way that eight people in my administration would be part of something and I wouldn?t know about. There is no way they would dare do something like this without getting clearance from me.??

?And besides that, the trashing of David Wildstein and Bridget Kelly indicate that they are setting up a ?he said, she said? battle,? Rendell said. ?They?ve trashed her. They?ve trashed women with this idea that she was emotionally unstable because she broke up with a man. Heaven forbid that breaking up with a man would make you do something mentally unstable like closing down four lanes of a bridge.?

And why did Manzo get off? Because the Hobbs Act only is directed at elected officials taking bribes! Chris Christie Spokesperson Bails for Scott Brown

Colin Reed, who's had his hands full with Bridgegate and has been subpoenaed in the matter, will instead be former Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown's campaign manager as he tries again in New Hampshire. "I've known Scott for more than four years," said Reed. "An opportunity to work with him again is something I couldn't pass up." Can you blame him?

Hoboken Security Cameras Have Been Inoperative for Years
#38

Hoboken has failed to keep a network of city-owned surveillance cameras working since 2010, including at least two cameras positioned on the waterfront where a jogger went missing last weekend, the I-Team has learned.

Juan Melli, a spokesman for Mayor Dawn Zimmer, confirmed that the cameras went offline nearly four years ago, after a contract expired with the company that designed and maintained the network.

?A couple years ago, we brought in an engineer," said Melli. "They said this system is old and not maintained and the recommendation was that they really weren?t usable."

In all, the city of Hoboken owns a network of 10 inoperative surveillance cameras, including one that is mobile, according to Melli. He did not reveal the exact locations of the inoperative cameras for security reasons, except to say two of them are on the waterfront.

The sheet rock rule is not absolute. There is a threshold percentage. Several times I've had ceilings down in part of an apartment, and electrical work done, all under permits, but they did NOT force me to take down ALL the ceilings and replace ALL the electric.

Doing your kitchen it's important to upgrade the electric if you can. A good electrician can be very clever about running cable with minimal wall damage, especially if you're in a top or bottom floor with crawl access. The DW, fridge and counter outlets should all get their own circuits, actually by code there should be 2 circuits for the counters. Most old JC kitchens share 1 circuit with half the apartment!

In some of these old houses it seems like the whole place is on one circuit.

BridgeGate Hits Next Level As Feds Launch Grand Jury Investigation

Federal prosecutors in New Jersey have convened a grand jury to investigate the George Washington Bridge lane closures, ABC News reported on Friday.?

Twenty-three grand jurors on Friday heard testimony from Michael Drewniak, press secretary to Gov. Chris Christie (R). Drewniak's attorney, Anthony Iacullo, told ABC News his client was not a target of the investigation.?

"I'm not going to get into the specifics as to what would be discussed in the grand jury," Iacullo said. "I would say though that Mike is a witness and we have been assured that he continues to be a witness throughout these proceedings and Mike has continued to cooperate as requested by the government into this inquiry."?

In January, the U.S. Attorney's Office in New Jersey confirmed that it was looking into the lane closures, which caused a multi-day traffic jam in Fort Lee, N.J. in September. But as ABC News reports, the existence of the grand jury confirms that the matter has evolved into a criminal investigation. Last week, a legal team representing Christie's office released a report claiming the governor had no role in the closures, and pinning blame for the plot on two former Christie allies: former Port Authority of New York and New Jersey executive David Wildstein and former Christie deputy chief of staff Bridget Kelly.?

ABC News on Friday also reported that a team of state prosecutors in New Jersey are monitoring the federal case, and "are prepared to continue the investigation on the state level if the feds turn it over to them."

Chris Christie update: Guv?s losing the Politico primary

Along with plenty of other changes, one thing Bridgegate has done to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is permanently damage what was once an enviable relationship with the press. For years, Christie could seemingly do no wrong in the national media?s eyes, despite there being more than a few local New Jersey reporters willing to shed some light on the governor?s darker practices. Yet a new report from Politico ? historically, one of Christie?s biggest fans in the media ? shows that even the most clueless and Beltway-blinkered members of the press corps are starting to realize that Christie just ain?t what he used to be. At this rate, Christie?ll soon have only Joe Scarborough and Nicolle Wallace singing his praises.

Here?s what you should know about Christie:

Politico?s new piece on the shadow presidential primary happening right now within the GOP is framed around a truth long understood outside the Beltway but only just now starting to really sink in among the media?s political elite: He?s no longer the party?s 2016 front-runner. The report finds that insiders within the party and potential candidates now consider the race wide-open and believe Bridgegate has permanently ? maybe even fatally ? wounded Christie as a political figure.

In that same vein, Philip Bumb of the Wire makes a persuasive argument that, in the court of public opinion, Christie will never truly be cleared of any Bridgegate wrongdoing. No matter how many investigations are released without proof that the governor knew about the engineered Fort Lee traffic snarl, there will be plenty of people ? especially Democrats ? who will find more questions to ask and more reasons to raise suspicion. Don?t believe him? Google the following words: ?Barack,? ?Obama,? ?Benghazi.?

Proving Bump?s point, the Star-Ledger has a report on how the upcoming Christie-controlled internal inquiry, which reportedly finds the governor innocent, is playing among politicians and political insiders in the Garden State. The short answer: They think it?s a patently compromised joke and are lending it very little credence, if any at all.

Christie hasn?t had many successes in 2014 thus far, but he at the very least has done this much: He?s gotten a Democrat in Congress to admit his Republican colleagues may have been right. New Jersey Dem Frank Pallone is quoted in a Daily Beast report by Olivia Nuzzi?as intimating that Republicans who held up providing federal aid to New Jersey in the wake of Superstorm Sandy, worried it would be wasted and/or ?lost? due to corruption, may have been onto something.??I have to go back to the very people who said ?I didn?t want to vote for this because it wasn?t going to be managed properly? now that they?ve been proven right,? Pallone told Nuzzi. ?It?s very sad.?

It's ridiculous. I don't blame people for being upset about this but all the police can really do is move them along to another area. It's a waste of their time to book them when they'll back on the streets doing the same thing when they get out. Politicians know this but couldn't care less.

The man is an asset that a lot of teams would be lucky to have, however they choose to use him. As human beings we all value second chances in life, and he's worked very hard to make his meaningful.

Well then maybe I'm reacting to his fans saying that it's a cultural thing and because of that he can't be blamed for what he did. Like I said, it would be great rooting for a local team this year.

Good morning New Jersey. If anyone was away from the news, or out-of-town, and haven?t heard yet, Michael Vick is a member of the New York Jets. Mark Sanchez was unceremoniously released yesterday, and Vick is here, on a one year, $5 million contract.

Much of the fan base is jacked up over this signing. Why not? He was the top quarterback on the free agent market, and now he?s here. That?s exciting, right?

Unfortunately, despite the good reasons to bring Michael Vick in here, this is the wrong match for THIS team. This setup is tailor-made for a classic Jets implosion. I hope beyond hope that I am wrong. I will be up front cheering for him as hard as anyone. I hope that my opinion is wrong.

I don?t believe that it is.

Really, before moving to JC I grew up in BK, and then later moved to Bleeker st in west village and HK in NYC and there were parades and events all the time and my ears are fine. I think most people who object to these sort of things just live in the wrong city. The only parade that I witnessed that was chaotic was the St. Patty parade due to all the alcoholics... other than that get over yourselves.

I've been enticed by a couple real estate listings in this area (by the Danforth ave. light rail). Do either of you have the inside scoop? Is it genuinely quiet? No spillover from Greenville proper? Any insight is appreciated.

The Answer to Homelessness: Why conservative Utah gives away housing

Utah is the fourth most conservative state in the union, according to a January Gallup survey. Only 15 percent of residents identify as ?liberal.? Yet the Beehive State is on the cusp of ending chronic homelessness using a new method that would appear to come straight from the Nancy Pelosi playbook?by giving away housing.?

In 2005, the Republican administration of Gov. Jon Huntsman introduced a ?centrally led and locally developed? strategy to defeat long-term homelessness. Called Housing Works, the program began with 17 people who had lived on the streets at least once in the previous year. The goal was to lead them to self-sufficiency, but they kept the housing even if they failed to pull their lives together.?

Today, this strings-free approach has decreased homelessness by 74 percent, and by 2015 the state hopes to reach all 3,000 cases of homelessness. Denver has seen success with a similar effort, and Wyoming, the most conservative of all states, is poised to follow suit.?

...?

Tsemberis struck out to change that system. His strategy hinges on getting the homeless into permanent housing in order to establish ties to a community. The tenant agrees to pay a nominal rent of no more than 30 percent of whatever income he has. And he must abide by lease agreements, just as any other renter would do. Moreover, he is not forced to seek treatment for mental illness or addiction, but he is offered such programs by a full-time case worker who regularly visits to help the tenant negotiate his way through the maze of social services and charitable organizations.
