Well.. I just voted in Ward C (northern part in the Heights). Modest turn out with Healy minions everywhere around the polling station. The way the signs were angled though, it looked like Obama was running for mayor instead of Healy.

Given the turnout up here, I don't think Fulop supporters will be able to win out over the 20% machine-zombie vote. It will be up to turnout downtown and in Newport for a Fulop win.

Fulop did have election observers at my polling station. None there were from Healy (or at least I didn't see any).

I think you mean Ward D. I live in the northern section of the Heights and we are Ward D. Ward C encompasses J.sq and I think the southern portion of the Heights.

I did see lots of Yun and Healy "volunteers" everywhere in the Heights. Most of the people on my block were voting for Fulop, there were only about 4 or 5 houses on my block that were Healy supporters.

Speaking of voting ?.did you know that Senator John F. Kennedy had campaign stops in JC? One at the Armory 9/15/1960 and one at Journal Square 11/6/1960 a day or two before he became President Kennedy. If you read the speeches you can see how important the vote was in HC and Jersey City at one time.

It is also considered a factor that help get FDR elected. It shames me when I hear about things like this, reading about how JC had influence across the nation and now we just settle for the local crumbs.

Yes, unfortunately. It sucks that this is the impression that people get when they move into JC from somewhere else. Hopefully after today we have some administration changes and this will be less of a problem.

I should have taken a picture but there are Healy signs all over a fence of an empty lot in Union City. Granted it is close to the border but you would think that they would know where the border is.

While I'm at it, I should take down the names of you dingdongs that do this and find other pointless sh!t that has no bearing on anything and make note to bring them up in every one of your posts. Maybe if healy wins, I'll do so, since we'll assuredly continue to get your pointless nonsense.

And before you ask, if I do end up bothering to vote tomorrow, it certainly will not be for healy.

Well, if you don't plan on voting then you shouldn't even be complaining.

It could be possible. When Duncan projects were still around they would always be fighting people from Marion projects. This mainly happened with high school kids while I was at dickinson but it would involve older people as well and usually the "beef" would continue on after school in and around the neighborhoods that the projects belonged to.

It wouldn't surprise me if that is the case but I could be wrong.

I go to hoboken hair on 14th and Washington. Regular cut is 19 and the staff are great and very helpful on giving advice on what to do for certain hairstyles (most places never have me any info). Its not in jc,I know but I haven't found any good places that are worth the price.

I just had Healy's wife on my block looking for support for the mayor. She spitted the typical BS about being a republican, even stated that Fulop wants to merge the Hoboken and JC police department. LOL! When did Fulop ever say that? Did I miss something? She continued on about how he was against Goya moving to JC. I simply replied with " but they got a tax break for millions of dollars and only created 9 new jobs."

She stood there with a dumbfounded look on her face, Mario Gonzalez had to step in to speak for her. There was something about her that wasn't right. She was swaying left to right while standing on my step. Don't think it was today's wind that was the cause of it though.

Its relatively safe but not "fun". The whole J.sq area is set for development but it has been a long process and has been stalled for several years. Most of the fun happens downtown, so its just a train ride away.

As a Heights resident, welcome. I have been saying this for a while now. More and more people are beginning to move up to the Heights as a result of being priced out of Hoboken and Downtown. The Heights will most likely not see the same level of gentrification as HBK or DT but it is definitely on the come up

A world you are not familiar with, in the worst section of the Bronx 10453 homes start @ 499, 000.00 the worst part of JC homes are 49, 000

I'm having a hard time believing that. and 49k for a house in JC? Come one now we're not Detroit. I would have understood 90k at least. 500k for a house in the worst part of the Bronx? I highly doubt that they are in the worst part. I've been to "the worst parts" of the Bronx. If somebody pays that much for a house in those sections, God help them.

Fulop really was the only one who spoke clearly and maintained composure throughout the debate. I have to agree with mrasg1, it seemed like the panel just wanted to get out as quick as possible.

Glad you came out - sorry we didn't meet. I agree with you. Can you believe Healy was 10x worse in his belligerence at last week's debate in Ward A. He was being "good" tonight, believe it or not... As usual, Steve came out focused, poised and with a plan.

Should've mentioned I would be there. Ah well. There is always 2017 :) I wouldn't doubt you on that. Healy seemed very uneasy, I was expecting him to just blatantly curse everyone out, like it was inevitable. He knew, however, that he couldn't afford to do that for this debate.

This shouldn't come at a surprise. If you talk to any Healy supporters, they constantly make it a point as to why has Fulop not come out of the closet, why keep it a secret, he must be keeping other secrets. Then to go further to label anyone who is a Fulop supporter his "boyfriend".

I haven't seen the flyer fedup is talking about. Maybe I just haven't looked at Healy flyers since I throw them out immediately but I will keep a look out for them now.

You people are all about childish behavior. You whine about Mayor Healy and the great people that built the city you are trying to steal. If any of you went to school here you would have learned some manner and some streets marts too.

The deleted post was how Mayor Healy outsmarted and outworked your Stevie. Team Healy was busy registering voters to the last minute, dropping off hundreds of new registrations right up until deadline. Where was Team Stevie? Nowhere in sight. Oh I forgot. They told me there was one poor Full-op-It schmuck who brought in one count it one last minute reg. Your beloved webmeister doesn't censor all kinds of your idiotic rants, but let someone tell how old fashioned political know how is going to clean your clocks and there goes your so-called "tolerance".

LOL! I went to school in JC. P.S #27 from K-8 and graduated from Dickinson in 08, I learned squat. Senior year I still had teachers giving us books on algebra 1. Algebra senior year!!! LOL going to college I felt like a complete dumbass because I was not prepared at all for the real world

Re: JC hotels to host Super Bowl participants

Again, that just sounds like being content with the way things are.

[quote]A good friend of mine had his girlfriend move in recently. She?s out of New York and they are living in Jersey. Every time she?s gets lost in the car the response is ?I don?t understand New Jersey!? It?s a fight he has all time. In the end it?s always, ?New Jersey just sucks.? Or ?New Jersey doesn?t make sense.?

I had a friend that used to work for the Daily News in the sports department. He was out of the Montclair area and commuted in each day. His editor, in a conversation, once told him, ?I?d never hire someone from outside New York.? [quote]

This is exactly why I do not support anything NYC. Yet knowing this, it seems more and more people want NJ to be associated with New York City. Like I don't understand. Knowing that NYC could care less about NJ, people feel inclined to try to harder to get them to like us. Its like we want to be the obsessive ex-girlfriend who doesn't get the point.

The stadium was partly paid for by NJ residents, and as far as I know, New York City didn't put money down for that stadium. so why should they be allowed to be advertised as a host? If they want to have their name on it the city should pay. NO EXCEPTIONS! And this is why we should keep what is ours as OURS, just like New York City's does.

Then all I ever hear from anyone is "we can't". That alone simply shows me how content people are with what we have.

That has nothing to do with it. Everything is about the "brand" known as New York. People know NY. A lot of the problem is that New Jersey seems just so very foreign to them. They say New Jersey and just lump the whole state as if it is one unit that is the same everywhere. They don?t say Jersey City and Hoboken and Newark and Seaside Heights and Atlantic City. It?s all just New Jersey.

And why don't they? You say that as if we cannot and should not create our "brand" and should just be content with letting New York City get all the credit and good stuff. This right here is the problem. Many are just happy with what we have or just have the mentality of "can't".

What I find most disappointing is that time and time again with these towers, there are missed opportunities to liven up the streetscape with retail facing the street/sidewalk.

Particularly glaring in this example is the Steuben Street side of the building, which appears to be completely closed off from the sidewalk/street. There is some retail, but not enough for a building of this size.

Maybe there is something architecturally that I do not understand, but this doesn't make sense to me at all, having buildings completely shut off from the rest of the world.

The one that kills me the most is the J.sq project that is adjacent to HCCC. It would be a building that sits atop a hill, with no other buildings or objects obstructing it and could possibly be seen for miles all around and the developer chooses to have it no different from the Monaco or the other proposed J.sq projects.

Its kind of why I am a little happy it never got built. I'm hoping someday in the future they change their plans or another developer comes along an realizes that.
