Every time I drive by police precincts I see so many marked cars just parked there.

Probably the cop by the construction is off duty. The amount of cars exceeds the number of officers. Budget and lack of man power seems to be case along with priority policing.

Why don't we have an auxiliary police for like NYC to patrol the neighborhoods and for community events?

Escalade driver leads State Police in wild chase around Newark

NEWARK ? The driver of a vehicle that may be tied to a homicide led police and state troopers on a wild chase that wheeled around the city?s highways, closing one of them entirely for about an hour Tuesday night, authorities said.

Three people were arrested, including the driver, who jumped off an overpass 40 feet, breaking both legs and a hip, authorities said.

Newark police began pursing a red Cadillac Escalade, which was wanted by the Jersey City Police Department for questioning on a homicide, said Sgt. Ronald Glover of the city's police department. The chase began in the area of Girard Place and Hawthorne Avenue - and the driver sped off through parts of I-78, Route 1&9 and I-280 before returning back to the city, Glover said.

An alert was called into several state police barracks at 10:36 p.m., said Trooper Jeffrey Flynn.

The Escalade was traveling east on I-78 with stolen plates, Flynn said.

Troopers pursued the car along the New Jersey Turnpike northbound, then off Exit 15W onto I-280 West, Flynn said.

At the Orange street exit ramp off I-280, the driver struck a civilian vehicle which was stopped in traffic, Glover said.

The driver then took off on foot - across all the lanes of the highway, before jumping off the overpass, Glover said.

Forty feet below the westbound lanes, police found Nathan Williams, a 36-year-old Newark man, with two broken legs, a broken hip - and a semiautomatic Colt .45 handgun which fell out of his pocket, Glover said. Williams had been sought by Jersey City police for questioning on a homicide, authorities said.

The westbound side of the highway was completely closed until 11:42 p.m., when a single lane was open, Flynn said.

Williams remains at University Hospital being treated for his injuries, Glover said. But he has been charged with eluding, unlawful possession of a weapon, certain persons not to have weapons, obstructing administration of law, resisting arrest and possession of stolen property, Glover said.

State police said two other people in the car were also taken into custody.

I agree, I think education should not be free, no one ever values what they don't pay for.

Problem is a lot of the teachers, cops, firefighters, and government workers who work for the city don't even live here. So the other towns are paying for their neighbors to have a job here so fair trade.

I think the sensor is activated when you pass the crosswalk if you were already at the intersection before it turned red you might be fine, but if i'm wrong you might be fined.

Huh? Those kids aren't the ones having problems. If a single parent is doing a great job their kids likely don't need more help (but would probably welcome some if we could figure out how to do so effectively). Unfortunately there are lots of single parents (and two parent families) that are not doing great jobs.

It's simple, your gonna have a harder time walking with a leg and crutch, than walking with two legs and no crutch. You're also are more likely to fall down more with a crutch, than without one.

There are automated kitchens in development. You would still have staff, just not as many. Basically 2 or 3 people to monitor the machines and take out trash instead of 15 people.

That picture shows a self ordering kiosk, which replaces the people running the cash register.

http://youtu.be/mfKbaX4jE9U

Yeah so until these automated kitchens are develop, McDs and other companies to pay these people a decent wage so they stop mooching the government for housing, food, and healthcare cost.

McDonald's depends on the government to subsidize their workers with housing, food, and healthcare since they don't make enough to earn a decent living. McDonald's will probably get automated machines for ordering but be aware that that's only one person that is been replaced and that there are dozens more that are cooking food, stocking inventory, etc. Walmart is another government welfare queen and most of their jobs can't be automated so I think it is fair to push for a wage hike since a lot of them are on government programs because of their low wages, which means you and me are paying for Walmart to profit from us.

Re: Moving to Greenville

The schools are not good so is best for your kids to go to private schools. The areas west of JFK blvd are the safest, but in any case it is best for your to invest in a home security system. You can ride a bike to liberty state park which is amazing. I hope you have a parking space since trying to find a parking space here is a hassle. For the most part I've been happy living here and my neighborhoods who are homeowners are nice. The Danforth area is nice but just remember this isn't downtown. Since I've been here it has improved but there have been hiccups.

I think it should be the concern of every parent, and if you fail at that you should be held accountable. Lets say your on public assistance and your child is not behaving as they should in school, the city should cut off that assistance until that problem is rectified.

Hey! It's good to see you back! The board got pretty boring once those threads disappeared.

So, care to give us any more info on the location of your illegal driveway so we can park in front of it? We are perfectfully within our rights to do because it is illegal, and no car parking in front of it would be ticketed or towed.

I tired that with another driveway cop gave a ticket anyway because of the call. I went to court and they wanted documents from me. Zoning did not have any; I had to pay a partial payment towards the fine. Compromise.

Wow, what steaming pile of bullshit that is! The city has a list of legal driveways, they just don't want to link it to other agencies. When I wanted them to put the lines and "no parking" in front of mine, the agency (I forget which) required ME to inquire of zoning whether I had a legal driveway or not. That anyone can put up a "NO PARKING" sign and get it enforced with the ticketee needing to prove the validity is insane. Even more crazy is they got you ticketed at all, every time I've called with some asshole parked in my driveway I get nothing.

Um call a tow truck company and tell them someone is illegally parked in your driveway and you need the car towed.
