Re: Stop Sale of Public Land to Developers, Promote a Green City

(A) It is not my petition. Just posting it to spread the word.

(B) Regardless of funds, there is no option to buy it, it is not going to auction. The city is selling it directly to the developer.

Stop Sale of Public Land to Developers, Promote a Green City

A petition was just launched on Change.org opposing the city selling a wooded lot to a developer who will clear out the trees and build apartments. The city lacks green space and this is being done without the land going to public auction. This same developer already cleared out all of the trees at a lot just down the street from this, and over a year and a half later, that lot just sits blighted and overgrown with weeds.

Please sign the petition if you oppose this.

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge on how to go about buying a vacant lot owned by the city? Its a small lot that is just going to waste.

My bank is the same, no local branches. I've never needed to try this, but is it possible to go to any bank teller with a stack of 20s and just ask them to consolidate it? Money is money right?

Generally no, only at this bank:

I guess a little more explanation... I have no local branches, my bank is all ATM, app, and mail based. They reimburse all ATM fees, but if you need a hundo, there is no teller to walk up to. I sometimes prefer one for a birthday card or the like, so I was just curious if anyone knows of one in the area. Chase has them, but the ones I have tried of theirs in JC just gave 20's.

Anybody know any ATM's in JC that dish out $100's? All the ones I go to seem to only give $20's.

How has this guy still not been caught? I thought for sure that this would be solved within days of the pics being publicized. Perhaps that yuppie/hipster outfit was just an incredible disguise.

I was just looking this up the other day because the space has looked finished and ready to go for months. According to their Facebook post from 3 weeks ago, its the same-ol' same-ol' JC thing with them having to jump through hoops to satisfy the various entities in the city gov.

From their FB page:

"Good day to all Carvao BBQ supporters, friends and family! We wanted to provide you with a status update on where we are with the opening. As some of you might already know, we are going through tough business of satisfying each and every request of the City and governing bodies. Despite all of these difficulties, we want to let you know that we are going strong and Carvao BBQ will finally open it's doors very soon to serve the neighborhood and all of Jersey City. Again, thank you very much, we appreciate and value all of you support and patience on this journey. Love, Carvao BBQ."

I'll throw in a positive vote. I used them for my kitchen counters. They did a great job, measured it perfectly, had a great price, and their service and staff were great. I had originally gone with someone else and they were taking forever to come out and measure. Chen Depot handled the job for less money and got it done very quickly. I am glad I went with them. Counters still look great.

Yes, it is likely a private company like TLO (http://www.tlo.com/vehicle-sightings.php)

They collect the data and sell it to anyone looking to locate vehicles and the people associated with them, like repo companies, bill collectors, lawyers, PI's and bounty hunters. Anyone can access it if they pay, which is scary.

Don't just use a boilerplate lease. Think through any specific conditions you want to ensure (use of yard, parking, etc) and be sure to include in the lease.

Be sure to take pictures of the unit before the tenants move in to document the "before" in case there is damage done.

Keep records and receipts of all expenses for tax purposes.

I've heard rumors that Mana Comtemporary has been quietly pushing for the Marion Ave PATH station. This would obviously benefit them tremendously because it would stop right at their front door rather than people having to walk 10 mins from JSQ. I have also heard they are willing to assist in funding it partly. Its probably just a bad rumor and probably not going to happen regardless.
