You're better off just calling the Parking Authority. You can buy NO PARKING signs to accommodate your truck. With enough notice, they will hang them for you.

Why wouldn't he be there? He's still getting paid to be a Councilman.

Until Fulop's office comes out with any kind of statement otherwise, my guess is nothing changes.

You can also try to raise donation funds on your block to help with costs, but it will take effort to do community outreach and educate your neighbors on the pros of TNR, even if they don't like cats. TNR improves Quality of Life for everyone, including the animals. Carol has a great flyer to use to get neighbors on board. Ask her about it.

Hi all - We were hoping to help TNR feral cats in our neighborhood, but have run into some roadblocks. Animal Control won't pick up any stray animals for TNR, and a few of the non-profits we called say we need to drive the trapped cats to their facility, and keep them in our home to recover for a few days afterward -- we're not able to do either of those. We also have to pay ~$50 for each cat. We're all for contributing to the cost, but that's a bit unreasonable considering the # of cats we have in our 'hood.

Does anyone have any leads on groups that will pick up a trapped cat and TNR?

Thanks in advance!

No group will or can do it for you. That said, there are a few groups who will guide, help train and loan supplies. Sometimes they have grant money available to help offset the cost. Carol Macnichol who runs Companion Animal Trust and who's org has provided all the above help and resources in the past can be found most Sundays holding adoptions at Fussy Friends on Newark Ave in dtjc. I suggest stopping in and talking to her. If she cannot help, ask her for referrals to folks who may be able to help.

Also, talk specifically to Paul Bellan Boyer at Animal Control. I know he is trying to expand resources for this in JC to partner with groups willing to help with the work. Not sure where he's at in his efforts, but he's a very good resource.

Also, if you trap enough cats (like 8+) you can work with People for Animals in Hillside to send the Neuter Scooter, a van that will pick up and drop off the cats. Carol knows this process well and can either help or give guidance.

Just don't get discouraged and don't give up. The kitties will thank you as will all your neighbors as TNR is the best solution for those who both love and are not so fond of feral cats.

Fulop breaks silence on DWI arrest of Jersey City councilman

By Terrence T. McDonald | The Jersey Journal

Jersey Journal March 17, 2015 at  6:33 PM

JERSEY CITY -- Mayor Steve Fulop broke his silence today about the DWI arrest of one his City Council allies, though he didn't say anything his spokeswoman hasn't already said on his behalf.

Fulop, speaking to The Jersey Journal after the annual Det. Marc DiNardo Jersey City St. Patrick's Day One Block Parade this afternoon, said the city is "looking into the facts" of Ward B Councilman Khemraj "Chico" Ramchal's Saturday arrest.

Asked whether he thinks Ramchal should step down from the council, Fulop repeated what city spokeswoman Jennifer Morrill said in the aftermath of Ramchal's arrest.

"We're investigating it and, again, after the facts are there, we'll discuss appropriate actions," he said. "I have nothing else to say other than that."

[/quote] Interesting that the Mayor said: He added: "What do you want me to do? Do you want me to call for their resignations?" Uh, yeah Mayor, many people want you to do just that. Lots of people think you should do that based on what you've preached in the past and during the campaign. Really dumb thing to say if you aren't willing to do it.

FWIW, and in no way is this meant to condone drinking and driving - these elected officials are constantly bombared by/need to attend parties and fundraisers. Its part of the job description. There's booze at most, if not all of these events.

Again, not any kind of excuse. Just giving some context into how their schedules are allotted. There is a lot of pressure/understanding that they will attend many/most of these types events, often many in one evening.

As the weather turns. I wanted to share with you the pothole plan. I hope you realize that we are constantly looking to improve as this year snow removal was better than last because we learned and this year pothole correction will be better as well.
Here is the pot hole plan:
This operation will begin Tuesday 3-10-15 at 10:00 AM, and continue until every pot hole is temporarily filled. All pot holes will be mapped and digitized over two weeks so April 1st we can revisit with our hot tar trucks and properly fill will hot tar. ( Plants are not open for hot tar yet) This last week in preparation we have been meeting with various agencies so Jersey City eliminates these pot holes.
? 7 pot hole trucks in operation making repairs : 3 DPW trucks, 2 MUA Trucks, 2 JCIA trucks,
? Ward by Ward approach, each Ward has a truck making repairs, 6 Wards, 6 trucks, the 7th truck will work on complaints. The Ward trucks will work on main streets, first, then secondary roads
? Hudson County, We have spoken with county Pot Hole supervisor and I plan on having County roads in Jersey City start being repaired this week
? DOT, We have spoken to State Crews and have work orders in for this Tuesday and Wed for all State DOT roads, tonnele Ave, 1 and 9 for this Tuesday and Wed
? NJTPK we have spoken to NJ TPK, and they are making all repairs on TPK roads this Tues and Wed
? DPW hot tar trucks, all DPW trucks are now in operation, repairs made to two trucks
? Tampers obtained, tools and cold patch ordered.
? Mapping, all pot hole repairs will be mapped, all RRC complaints will be imputed with attachments,
? Will revisit every repair within 6o days and remove cold patch and properly repair with hot tar.
This plan, and joint effort will result in quick repairs, and the citizens of Jersey City in all Wards will see our hard working teams in actions.

Richardson is just awful in her current capacity from a constituent standpoint.I could not get her to do jack for 1.5 years about considering bike lanes in Lincoln Park. She would promise a deliverable, then go MIA on it for many many months. Then when called out, if she bothered to reply, was full of excuses as to why nothing had moved on it over the prior several months. Not good.

I think you need to stop such elitist remarks for a minute at look at the area on a street view in google maps. put in 121 Magnolia for a proximity which is part of a row of lovely brownsotnesThat is a nice tree lined street. Houses look pretty well kept. Overall that is a nice quiet neighborhood.I don't blame these people one little bit.

And brownstones are not the only "pretty" houses in JC.

Now hold on before you start tossing "elitism" around. JSQ - like almost all of JC - has some beautiful/charming architecture. A lot of houses are pretty run-down, though, and developments like the towers are going to raise values in the entire neighborhood. Over time, that will benefit those homeowners. But change is hard, I know.

Well it sounded elitist because you made a statement that that specific neighborhood is "ass-ugly" which is a rude phrase and not accurate. It smacks of someone who has never been there, let alone looked at the intersection/view of that block of Magnolia on street view in Google maps.

What is surprising is it was a real estate firm who arranged the lease and added the addendum. The person I spoke to at CA was shocked they had the balls to add it in. He said the only time it works is if the landlord puts in a washer dryer system where it takes quarters. But that isn't the case here. Equally shocked I was stupid enough to sign it, but that's another story.

I have written my landlord to ask them to take it out of my lease and that I will arrange repair, stick around for repair and pay for repair up front (and take it out of rent) but I won't be paying the first $100 for repairs. Still curious if anyone has ever encountered this type of thing before.

Why even cover the repair cost up front, even if you subtract it from the rent. What if its a $5k repair? I suggest you call the JC government's Office of Landlord/Tenant relations and speak with Charles Odei, the head. He is very helpful and knowlegeable on these matters.

Re: Adopt Love!

If you meet a pair of cats at LHS that are already bonded (like siblings), then you may want to consider 2. But I agree that you may not want to get 2 at once who haven't bonded/been in the same cage or household as fosters pre-adoption as your first time with cats. LHS is pretty good at advising on this with the cats they have.

But 2 cats that get along well really do great usually, aren't hard to care for and really boost each other up. IMHO, bonded pairs should not be seperated.

This is Councilman Ramchal's idea and he's put it together with Nick Taylor, Director of Zoning. Note that this is a prelude ordinance to his still breathing Front Yard parking ordinance which is not yet dead.

This has so many flaws, as others have stated already.

I don't understand what's happening...but no amount of food is worth this aggravation. Also don't understand why they don't open up one of those supermarkets in downtown jersey city, most of the people who are shopping there are from downtown jc anyway.

Good store, horrible location.

What don't you understand? This market's customers live near the market, not in dtjc yuppie town. Ya know, the thousands upon thousands of Asian shoppers who's majority reside in Wards A, B, C & D (and maybe in F) really don't care if this market isn't convenient to the tiny geo area that is dtjc. How does this differ from the current arrangement?

It allows for new ones to be built by any homeonwer in an R-1 lot (25 ft. wide by 100 ft. deep, which is all over JC), exacerbating the issues we already have with the exisitng old ones which are grandfathered in.

The Jersey Journal has an online poll to go along with their story on front yard parking.

Fulop pays attention to this stuff. If you are against it, we have to hit back hard. Here is the poll; you can vote multiple times (yes, I'm serious - it's totally unscientific). Vote from your work computer, your home computer, your handheld device, click refresh and vote some more. You don't have to live in JC to vote - pass it on to all your friends who will vote no just for fun. Right now, it is 819 votes in favor of the ordinance, 102 against.

http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/20 ... _nov_11.html#incart_river

It's off the agenda for now, but if we don't hit back hard, it will come back. Vote early and often!
