Re: Bring camera scans to Jersey City

I see a surprising number of cars with temporary plates mounted on their tinted back windows. Impossible to read. I'm surprised it's legal.

True.
Maybe that was just his excuse for not shoveling the snow.

I'm a bit bummed that the owners also own a couple of other bars. I enjoyed the true neighborhood bar feel of Barrow Street Bar, where the owner was always around.

Didn't Chris just get done telling us that he didn't live in JC?

You must mean within four days, or so.

There were also times that I used my snowblower to remove snow down Mercer St from Barrow to Jersey (for free). Ask some of the neighbors.

That's odd. That's not the block your bar is on. And I think I would have noticed since you'd have been clearing my walk.
And the only times I haven't been around to clear my own, I've hired someone.

This time, find a partner who is willing to shovel the snow and do the neighborhood a favor.

I haven't really been able to figure out what this thread is about, but that must be it.
Are all of you people renters? Is that the issue here?
I own a two family, and I've been putting out a trash can full of glass/plastic/metal and a separate can of paper/cardboard each week on recycling night.
Not a special sort of container in any way.
It's always been collected.
Are your landlords not providing containers? Do you think you need your own?

Hey Brewster, It's not Downtown Jersey City List anymore. For some reason this thread came off the rails during a discussion of Newark St and landed out on rt. 440.
They are not talking about the Staples next to Modell's and across from Target.
They are the 'Brown-eaters' who will soon be able to get their paperclips while picking up take-out from Wok-n-Roll.
But not playing video games at Barcade.

I assumed that it was temporary.
And I don't think that walk is brick, but stamped asphalt. I think it was there that I watched workers rolling the brick pattern into the asphalt with a wire grid.

I imagine that it was done in order to make the entrance to the Mack-Cali building's garage as convenient as possible. All right turns from Eastbound Columbus.
Maybe someone else has been around long enough to remember.

Vietnamese Restaurant Opening in Former Cafe Nia & Baker Boys Location

By Jon Whiten ? Oct 22nd, 2010 ? Category: Blog, Food
The corner location at Newark Avenue and Monmouth Street in Downtown Jersey City that was formerly home to Cafe Nia and the Baker Boys Cafe is about to get a new tenant: Rue Viet, a Vietnamese restaurant and sandwich shop.

The restaurant is being opened by Dianna Munz, a Hoboken native who has opened two restaurants in Brooklyn ? Paninoteca 275 in Carroll Gardens and Red Hook?s Hope & Anchor, which she opened with partner Gary Rego (he?s also her partner in Rue Viet).

This will be Munz?s first restaurant back on this side of the Hudson, and it will offer ?a mix of Asian flavors,? including pork buns, noodle curry, pork belly, pho and Banh Mi sandwiches.

The restaurant is slated to open in November, with Monday-Friday hours of 11 am to 11 pm for lunch and dinner and weekend hours of 9 am to 11 pm for all three meals.
