Not poor people!!!!!! CRIMINALS, PEOPLE WHO HAVE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF THE SYSTEM SINCE THEY WERE BORN, UNEMPLOYED BECAUSE THEY ARE LAZY AND CHOOSE NOT TO WORK. I DOUBT ALL THOSE PEOPLE DRINKING BERS AT 2:00PM IN THE AFTERNOON ARE LOOKING VERY HARD FOR JOBS!!!

THE SCHOOLS SUCK BECAUSE THE PARENTS DONT CARE, THEY DONT GET INVOLVED WITH THEIR CHILDREN UNTIL THEY HAVE TO GO TO COURT FOR DEALING DRUGS OR MUGGING SOME POOR SCHLUP THAT WORKS FOR A LIVING.

THE MONTGOMERY GARDENS SUCK!! WAK THE "F" UP!

Please, its not that bad! I've been living in JC for 10 years now and it is so much better today than it was 10 years ago. Downtown JC is an amazing place which seems to be getting better daily. There are more restaurants, bars and new developments appearing on what seems like a monthly basis! I'm sure you have your reasons for giving up but I am pretty excited about the prospects of Jersey City's future!

I believe Mr. Fulop will be the next mayor and we will move forward much quicker.

We need more cops in JC, thats a fact! Cops should make good money as they risk their lives every day. We also need the old time cops to retire since they do NOTHING and get paid the most. Now firemen on the other hand are way OVERPAID! Yes they risk their lives but 99% of the time they are doing nothing!

Heres the deal with the Building Department. They do not take bribes anymore since they have been investigated. What they do is delay everyone and abuse what little power they think they have! They blame the delays on the fact that they have to take furlough days. THEY ARE DELAYING EVERYONE because they are pissed off that they cant take bribes and they have to take mandatory days off! THEY ARE GARBAGE AND SHOULD BE TREATED AS GARBAGE!

Rays, yeah I KNOW!! See below from today...

Snapple Attack at Light Rail

At approximately 2:30am on Sunday morning, Hoboken Police were notified by Jersey City Medical Center that they had a male victim who was bleeding from the head ? saying he was assaulted with a glass bottle somewhere in Hoboken.

HPD responded to JCMC and met with the 19 year-old victim, who had just returned from getting a cat-scan on his head. The victim, who works at a local Hoboken pizza parlor as a bus-boy, said he walked to the 2nd Street Light Rail after work at around 11pm, and was approached by two black males, punched in the head by one of the actors and knocked to the ground. As he tried getting to his feet to ?defend? himself, he heard the two actors laughing, and the other male struck him in the forehead with a glass Snapple bottle. He had no other memories after that, including how he got to the hospital. He had deep 2 1/2 inch gash on his head. This apparently wasn?t a robbery, because he had his wallet and other possessions.

Police are investigating surveillance footage from the cameras installed at the Light Rail station.

Punched for no reason

Early Saturday morning, at approximately 1:30am, Police responded to 1st and Bloomfield Street on reports of an assault.

A 25 year-old Union City Male said he was walking east from 1st and Bloomfield, when he approached a group of three black males. One of the three actors punched him in the face, above the right eye.

The victim couldn?t offer much of a description other than one actor had ?corn row or dread lock? style hair, and the other two had short hair. He said he could identify the victims, but a search of the area by Hoboken Police yielded negative results. Hoboken EMS treated the victim on scene, and he refused further treatment.

Re: 100 Steps in the heights

Home away from home

Give me a break!!!! I don't blame them for not building the steps. I'm sure they don't want all the criminals in the heights to have easy access to to Hoboken. Fix the crime problem and then they should build the steps.

I know brass works is in JC but what does JC do for them. They should get praised for taking a shit show of a building and converting it into one of the premier rental buildings in JC!

Instead you have the homeless living in tents in the woods across the street and punk gangs spraying graffiti on every telephone pole up Paterson plank.

Like I said before, fix the crime problems and remove the crack heads from the woods across the street and then the steps should be built!

Re: Dr. Epps Contract Extended
Home away from home
Home away from home

I am disheartened to see, all too often, that the decisions being made in Jersey City are based purely off of politics, which clearly has an adverse affect on our schools and our taxes.

Please take a minute to sign the petition to have the Governor and Education Commissioner overturn the Board of Education's illegal vote to extend the superintendent's contract. We have a chance to be heard and I hope you take a second to read the below email since it has a significant impact on our city.

What happened?

On June 22, the Jersey City Board of Education voted to extend the current Jersey City Public School Superintendent?s contract to 2013. They held this vote at what was essentially a CLOSED DOOR MEETING with NO GENUINE ATTEMPT TO NOTIFY THE PUBLIC thereby making the opportunity for public participation impossible.

I am saddened by this blatant attempt to subvert the public process, and disappointed in the Board of Education for continuing to resort to status quo Jersey City politics, where big decisions that affect your schools and taxes are made to benefit the few at the expense of the many.

At the meeting it was pointed out their actions may have been illegal. New Jersey State Law 18A:11-11 mandates that:

?a board of education can not in any way take action on a superintendent?s contract unless notice is provided to the public at least 30 days prior.?

?the board [of education] must hold a public meeting and give 10 days notice of that meeting.?

Why did the Board of Education hold this meeting without proper public notification? What are they trying to hide from YOU ? the taxpayer?
Here are the facts:

Superintendent Epps? current contract is worth over $250,000 in salary and housing allowance. The current contract includes NO benchmarks, NO performance standards and NO specific reporting requirements. 35 out of 40 Jersey City schools are on the state's list of failing schools-- 14 of them for the third year or more.

What can you do?
Demand better results by signing this petition to Governor Chris Christie and Commissioner Brett Schundler asking them to overturn the vote to extend the Jersey City Public School Superintendent?s contract and to hold a national search for the best-qualified candidate.

Please take a minute to sign this petition located at http://www.rrupt.com/software2/customer/ stevenfulop/survey/BOE.php and forward to all your friends in Jersey City. You should determine who will manage this $619 million budget and you should demand results.

THIS GUY NEEDS TO GO!!!! YOUR KIDS ARE NOT LEARNING!!!

I respect and am thankful for the great men and woman of our JC Fire Department but they WORK 1 DAY ON AND 3 DAYS OFF!!! To make 100K is absurd! They all have 2nd jobs as well. The bump after 6 years service is from 60K to 90+K.

So Chief, give us all a break and stop insulting our intelligence!

Take a pay cut and hire more firemen to keep all of us taxpayers safe.

It will never open on time because the RETARDS at the building department (RAZZOLI and crew including Brian what ever his name is) will fail them or just take their time getting to the inspections. The building department is a completely disfunction bunch of yahoos. It needs to be dismantled so Jersey City can bring in new retail and restaurants with out issue!

Re: Newark Avenue StreetScape
Home away from home
Home away from home

It actually makes perfect sense to turn Newark Ave into a restaurant row and shopping destination! It would be fantastic to shut Newark Ave down from at lease Jersey Ave to the Path. You have to have the foresight to realize that there are potentially thousands of new Downtown Jersey City residents moving into the area over the next 10 years. There will be multiple high rise condo and rental buildings developed with some reaching 60-80 stories.

The way Newport and the Exchange place area was built leaves little room for a walkable and sustainable shopping/restaurant district but the Newark Ave shopping district already exists and it would be pretty easy to get the 99 cent stores and meaningless bodegas out while we bring more practical and usable retail in! Call me crazy but I think we could model it after Boston's Newberry Street. It makes perfect sense!

Oh! You mean JCHurst is one of those trying to save that EYSORE Embankment! TAKE IT DOWN and build a park street level so it can be patrolled and secured properly. Unfortunately the few and I mean few squeaky wheel get the oil around here.

Also, Bright moment, JCHurst started this with the Asshole comment regarding Christie who by the way, the masses voted for!

What have I done:

1. Personally stopped crimes from taking place and reported crimes in Downtown JC
2. Personally painted over graffiti and have reported graffiti all over this city.
3. Contributed financially to our next Mayors campaign!

Christie has been Governor for a couple of months just like Obama has been president for a year and I have not said anything negative about him because I am capable of giving people a chance.

I dont need to see JCHursts negative comments and I will call him an asshole when need be!
