Look at the map and take it seriously.
Sussex west of Washington had Garden apts. with over four feet of water in them. All of them.

Would anyone say that the area near Marin Blvd and York St. were hit hard by Sandy? I'm looking for apartments in that area and just want to be aware. From the maps, what I understood is that area got hit pretty hard.

The only thing you should be looking at in that area is a houseboat. That picture of the parking lot back a few posts in this thread? That shows the elevated lot behind city hall at Marin and Montgomery, one block uphill from York. Another poster reported that the highwater mark is still visible on the front window of the still-closed 'Tommy 2 Scoops', just East on York.

So Brewster. Was your neighborhood under water? The map says yes. What say you?

Re: Emails show FBI investigating Sen. Bob Menendez for sleeping with underage Dominican prostitutes

From Forbes:

"The Washington Post is reporting that one of the alleged escorts who accused New Jersey Democrat Robert Menendez of having paid her for sex has told Dominican Republic police that she was indeed paid?not for sex but to fabricate the story.

According to an affidavit executed by the woman and acquired by the Post, the woman?and her colleague?were approached by an unnamed attorney who offered a sum of money to read a prepared script containing allegations that the two had provided sexual favors to the New Jersey Senator while he was vacationing in the Dominican Republic. Unbeknownst to the women, the reading was then captured on videotape.

The affidavit also confirms that the accuser has never so much as met Senator Menendez.

Authorities have been successful in contacting the lawyer who allegedly approached the women who reports that he had also been approached by another lawyer who paid him to execute the assignment."

I believe it is part of the Columbus Ave corridor and thus permitted to become something much taller.
The question should be "what do you think will be in the retail areas at street level.?'

But I wouldn't call it pressure to perform so much as academic performance is celebrated. No one is looked down on for being a brain.

Suggest that he bend a piece of sheet metal to build a little roof over the pilot, as a temporary measure.

You were taken to the cleaners.
Too bad you didn't hire someone reputable who has worked in the neighborhood for years: Jack Pereira , JP New Construction.
Next time give Jack a call.

Do yourself a favor and get some legal advice before you assume that you have any rights at all. You may not. Most of the rights tenants are presumed to have don't apply to those in two family homes.
I'm sorry that I don't have an attorney to recommend, but you might ask for a recommendation from a realtor you're friendly with.

Hi,

I'm looking for someone to do repointing and sealing on my brick rowhouse, and I see a lot of great reviews of Jack Pereira (JP New Construction) and PMJ Construction (same person?).

But both the JP and PMJ websites are defunct, and I'm wondering he's still in business/recommended.

Thanks!

I don't see that as arrogant at all.
She had a consensus, changes were made, and now she has to go back and negotiate again to rebuild consensus.
She expects to be successful. I expect she will be.
She's doing what a board president should do, and she's doing it well.

I've looked on the facebook pages of the Harsimus Cove Cemetery and the website of Underground Supper Club. I've looked at all the copy I could find, announcing and publicizing the event and selling tickets for it.
Nowhere have I found any mention of it being a fundraiser for the cemetery except in the news article written after the event was shut down.

Glad so many people have had great experiences there.
I wouldn't bother to post, but I hate to see Brewster or anyone who has a negative experience at PostNet made out to be a crank
Same thing happened to me years ago; guy wouldn't accept a preprinted return label.
I didn't bother to burn any bridges or make a fuss. I just didn't go back.
So +1 Brewster!

Local Boy Makes Good!

We've heard of this guy before, haven't we Webmaster?
For some reason I can't find that thread!

From the Jersey Journal:
Khaddy Garcia, formerly of Jersey City, is facing up to 50 years in prison after he admitted in a New York federal courtroom on Wednesday that he concocted two schemes -- one to withdraw funds from various business bank accounts and a second to induce a venture capital fund to wire $2 million to an account Garcia controlled.
Garcia, who pleaded guilty to one count of bank fraud and one count of wire fraud, made national headlines in 2004 when, as a 17-year-old Dickinson High student, he conned an Ohio car dealership into shipping him a $122,000 BMW. He later sold the flashy, 12-cylinder BMW 760Li for $40,000, officials said.

Re: Commercial Signage Standards, Downtown

It is totally subjective.
I think Skinner's signage looks sort of ridiculous. Faux-something or other. Looks like someones idea of what might belong in an English Village.
It's all in context. If you put a hip Craft Beer place in the National Discount Store and kept the sign as is, a lot of people would think it was cool. A la Live Bait.
I think those things should be allowed to develop naturally.

That's the way it works?
It flashes to alert the police to give chase?
Seriously, I'll have to investigate further. It may be that what I think is a camera is actually the sensor, and the camera is somewhere else.
What I see are a couple of tubes mounted on the arms above the lights. They point north and south, at the traffic running up and down Jersey. There are no similar tubes pointed parallel to Columbus.
