I once got a summons for trash cans out front. I live in a brownstone. I asked where else I should put them, noting that the mayor across the street, also has trash can in front. The summons was cancelled.

Wow, I lived downtown on a busy thoroughfare for 5 years and always had the trash can in the front (rowhouse with a little gated area). I did get a warning once though when a snowstorm had covered up the trash at the curb, and after everything melted, the trash was noted to be "put out too early".

I don't live downtown anymore and am certain they wouldn't care around here.

Never mind. You can't have cans in the front. This hasn't been enforced in the 20+ years I have been here.

Oh well...

Is Jersey City on a ticket writing blitz?

Just received a ticket for putting trash out too early (new tenants I suspect on this one). I also got a ticket for 'improper storage of trash'. Not sure what that means. Is having trash cans outside next to the building considered 'improper storage'?

The city it seems (not just trash) is digging up previously non-enforced rules and regs...
