Reason # 1,500,652 to KNOCK DOWN THE CRIME INFESTED HOUSING PROJECTS!!! They will always breed criminals, they will always be a blight, they will always devalue all of the properties surrounding them!

News Flash: if you store drugs that are going to be sold on the street, then you are directly involved in the drug trade.

Bail set at $35,000 for Jersey City woman whose public defender says her Montgomery Gardens apartment was only used to store heroin and marijuana and she wasn't directly involved in drug trade

A 55-year-old Jersey City woman made her first appearance in court yesterday on charges she had more than 300 bags of suspected heroin and marijuana in her apartment in the Montgomery Gardens housing complex, officials said.

Rose Hamlett's bail was set at $35,000 cash or bond when she made her first appearance on the charges in Central Judicial Processing court in Jersey City via video link form Hudson County jail in Kearny.

She faces multiple drug counts, including drug possession with intent to distribute within 500 feet of public property and within 1,000 feet of school property (County Prep High School), reports said.

Prosecutors sought a $50,000 bail for Hamlett but it was reduced when the public defender said "it appears that her apartment was being used to store drugs and she was not directly involved with what was going on."

When police searched her apartment at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, they found a box on her refrigerator containing 210 bags of suspected heroin and 113 bags of suspected marijuana, reports said.

Police simultaneously searched the apartment of Carolyn Salisbury, 48, in the same building and there they found 52 syringes, as well as items of the type used to package drugs, reports said.

Salisbury was charged with possession of hypodermic syringes and possession of drug paraphernalia, reports said.
