From what I gathered was the truck and trailer would be empty because the person moved in. Why would the person have their lovely friends drive here and not move in the stuff.

On a side note, there is a huge parking lot on Bay between Grove and Erie. It is right behind La Congita. They lock it up at night. Ask them for a fair price. No one really parks there and a couple of bucks their way would help them. Just a thought

If you're at all concerned about the truck and trailer, you may want to consider paying for the added security of a weekly space in a lot (there are a number of them within 3 blocks of the Grove PATH station.)

Those "unrestricted" spaces between Warren and Washington may be a nice find, but they're on dimly-lit warehouse blocks and don't see a lot of foot traffic. Seems to me like you'd be rolling the dice by parking there for a few nights.

Even if you remove anything of value before parking--which you absolutely should--thieves often target trailers. I know more than one band which has had their van/trailer broken into while parked in Jersey City.

Is it worth saving $75 in parking if it means getting your windows smashed and the trailer busted open?

Which area are you moving to?

Right near Bay Street - the area mentioned by another poster above - there are a few parking lots that charge by the day. The one right in front of the warehouse on Morgan Street is pretty large and may have room for the truck since there will be less commuters around Thanksgiving week.

If I were you, I'd definitely call the parking authority or JCPD office to see if they have any other suggestions. Good luck!

Thanks for the warning, however, no commercial plates.

Any other suggestions out there or business willing to rent me a spot for the week?!?!? =)

If you have commercial plates, you may want to check with the Parking Authority. When we first moved here, our UHaul truck was booted because we parked it on the street overnight and it had commercial plates.

You can park on 1st St or 2nd St between Warren and Washington or the right side of Bay St between Warren and Washington as there are no restrictions on these blocks as of now, Just go there at night (after the commuters are gone) and snag a big spot which will get you through the week. Commuters grab all these free unrestricted spots early in the morning during the week. Good luck with your move.

If you're going to attempt street parking, during a weekday (non-holiday) and you're in a 'zoned' area, don't forget to get a parking permit!

www.jcparking.org

(i got booted and ticketed on moving day)

How about the parking space at the Liberty State Park Station of Light Rail? I think you'll have to go there once a day to pay, but is there any rule against parking there for a few days?

I am moving to the JC area and my fantastic friends are moving all of my things. I am moving on the 23rd and my friends plan to spend the week with me and celebrate Thanksgiving.

The problem -- where can I park a large pick up truck and trailer for the week?

Is there any street parking available? I am willing to pay to park the truck and trailer in a lot if necessary -- any suggestions?

Thanks for your help!
