Testimony ends in ethics hearing for Jersey City school board VPJERSEY CITY — Jersey City’s school board vice president, Lorenzo Richardson, testified at an administrative law hearing Friday morning that he believed he was acting properly when he filed a legal complaint against district officials in 2016. Richardson testified he thought he had the authorization of the then-board president, Vidya Gangadin, and then-board counsel, Ramon Rivera, when he filed the complaint against them. State ethics laws bar board members from taking actions against their boards. https://www.nj.com/hudson/2019/03/test ... city-school-board-vp.html

Jersey City school board VP faces judge in ethics caseNEWARK — A Jersey City school board member accused of violating a state ethics law when he took legal action against a member of his own board of education faced an administrative law judge in Newark on Thursday. Lorenzo Richardson, the board's vice president, is accused of violating a state law that bans school board members from representing any party other than the school board or district in a proceeding involving the district they serve. The ethics complaint that led to Thursday's roughly 90-minute hearing was filed by one of Richardson's fellow board members, Matt Schapiro. https://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/20 ... aces_judge_in_ethics.html

Ugh. I did not think much of Lorenzo Richardson's chances in the administrative proceeding.
But to file an ethics complaint against the board member (which also seems pretty farfetched), then run for the board, is going to create the drama which derailed progress that could have been made over the past several years. If you want to take on Lorenzo Richardson, he is up for re-election next year. Run against him mano a mano. That would be a great steel cage match. Interest of full disclosure, I am actively supporting another candidate, Sudhan Thomas, in the upcoming election. But no matter what happens, I want that steel cage match.

Jersey City school board member subject of ethics complaint By JERSEY CITY — A Jersey City school board hopeful filed an ethics complaint last month against current board member Lorenzo Richardson, alleging Richardson revealed confidential information, compromised the school board and violated state ethics rules in his effort to get the schools chief's new contract tossed. Matt Schapiro, who is seeking one of three open seats on the Jersey City Board of Education in November, indicates in his June 13 complaint to the state School Ethics Commission that he thinks Richardson could be booted off the board for his actions.
