Homeless man attacked while panhandling in Jersey City, cops say

JERSEY CITY -- A homeless man was assaulted Tuesday night while panhandling at one of the city's busiest intersections, police said.

At about 8:40 p.m., police met the 52-year-old victim at the Charlotte Circle near the western end of Newark Avenue. He told police that while he was asking for money, an "unprovoked" man threw an "unknown blunt object" at him, according to a police report of the incident.
