$320K in state aid to Jersey City at risk

Inaccurate answers on a budget questionnaire submitted by Jersey City to state officials could cost the city $320,947 in state aid, an amount that would blow a hole in the city's 2016 budget.

State Department of Community Affairs officials found three instances in the document, known as the best practices inventory, where Jersey City provided answers that "appear to be inaccurate," according to a May 5 letter from DCA to Jersey City. The questionnaire is scored and used by state officials to determine how much state aid a municipality receives.
