Jersey City council to vote on residential housing, moving public safety department and more at meeting

By Ben Shapiro | The Jersey Journal The Jersey Journal  August 18, 2015 at 10:20 PM

JERSEY CITY — Tax breaks for two projects in Downtown Jersey City that include some affordable housing are scheduled to be decided upon at tomorrow's city council meeting along with a potential new location for the public safety department and the elimination of the Incinerator Authority.

The residential housing project is expected to receive the most attention and involves a 25-year tax break for a two tower, 800-unit project on Marin Boulevard.

One tower is expected to be 35 stories while the other 36, each with an estimated 420 and 432 residential units respectively. Twenty-five percent, or 85 units, of the 35-story building will be used for affordable housing rental units while 20 percent, or 87 units, in the larger building will be designated for the same purpose.
