A barbershop owner for almost 30 years passed the torch this morning to a Jersey City fireman who re-opened the freshly designed shop with its new name, "KobeCuts."

The shop received two months of careful renovations before celebrating with a ribbon cutting this morning in front of many family and friends at 197 Martin Luther King Drive.

Alberto Henriquez has not only been a fireman in Jersey City for the past eight years, but he has also been cutting hair for 20. Henriquez recently took the reins of the shop in May from longtime owner, George Moore.

"I'm trying to bring that luxury, 'old-school' barbershop feeling back for a reasonable price, and to give back to the community," Henriquez said during the ribbon cutting today.

Henriquez said he has loyal clientele that has followed him from shop to shop throughout his career of cutting hair.
