Macy's has become the third major corporation to drop Donald Trump because of his recent remarks about the nature of Mexicans -- bad, to put it mildly -- who illegally enter the United States.

Saying it was "disappointed and distressed" by Trump's characterization in his presidential announcement last month, Macy's said it would discontinue its relationship with Trump and phase out his merchandise. Macy's has been carrying Trump's menswear line since 2004, and the developer has also appeared in commercials for the company.

"We do not believe the disparaging characterizations portray an accurate picture of the many Mexicans, Mexican Americans and Latinos who have made so many valuable contributions to the success of our nation," Macy's said in a statement Wednesday.
