he organizer of Sunday's annual Father's Day Cookout in a Bayonne park where three people were shot said today he is hurt by the violence that erupted at an event meant to bring fathers and their children together.

"A lot of these kids, their dad is not in their life and this is a day when the dads are in their kids' lives," said Peter Robinson, 48, sitting on a bench in Mercer Park, which sits on the Jersey City border.

Robinson, of Jersey City, said about 1,000 people attended this year's ninth annual cookout.

"I take pictures of so many people in the park smiling and having a good time and I get inspiration from it," Robinson said of the event, marred by the shooting of two 15-year-old boys and a 21-year-old man. "Kids come up to me all year saying 'Mr. Peter, are we having the barbecue this year?'"
