Syron B. Stone, of Wilmington, N.C., who fit the description of the suspect the women gave police, was arrested early Saturday. Stone, who was found to be carrying a folding knife with a 5-inch blade, was charged with possessing a weapon for unlawful purposes but has not been charged with committing the attacks, police said, noting the investigation is ongoing.

The streak of violence began at 8:18 p.m. when a city woman noticed a man wearing a ski mask walking toward her on the street, according to police reports....

One woman was punched in the face and another was stabbed with a knife during two separate incidents on a single Jersey City street Friday, according to police reports.

The attacks happened on Wright Avenue within about within two hours of one another that night, according to police reports.

A North Carolina man who fit the "exact description" of the person who punched a woman and later stabbed another on the same Jersey City street was arrested early Saturday morning for having a knife, according to police reports.

At around 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning, police spotted Syron B. Stone, of Wilmington, N.C., walking on Logan Avenue near Wright Avenue, according to police reports.
