Kathryn Brenzel | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com HOBOKEN ? Hundreds of people lined up in Hoboken Wednesday morning, some having stayed overnight, for a chance to get low-income housing in the city and in Weehawken. City police estimated that roughly 800 to 1000 people were waiting outside the Hoboken Elks Club on Wednesday morning to apply for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program, a rental assistance program available to certain low-income families. Applied Housing Management Co. on Wednesday opened up its waiting list for housing in privately owned buildings in Weehawken and Hoboken. The line started at 1005 Washington Street, curved down 11th Street and then along Hudson Street, where it looped back up toward 10th Street. Some people had been waiting in line since Tuesday afternoon, braving the rain and the cold overnight to get on the company's waiting list. More
