A Jersey City man was shot in the back last night on Randolph Avenue, police said, the third shooting in the area in slightly more than 24 hours.

The 21-year-old victim was rushed to Jersey City Medical Center after the 10 p.m. shooting. He is in critical condition, a hospital spokesman said.

On Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. a man was shot in the face on Union Street near Bergen Avenue. At 5:40 p.m. yesterday, a man was shot on Union Street near Ocean Avenue.

Police responding to reports of a shooting last night found the victim on a porch with a gunshot wound, police said.

Police canvassed the area of the shooting and retrieved a shell casing in front of the Randolph Avenue home where the victim was found, a police report said.
