In 1960, when JC turned 300 years old, the city produced a booklet with the city's history as well as events for the year. The city also has an exhibition of artifacts that was in the Bergen Square area. I asked about those artifacts when the city turned 350 years old in 2010, the only thing that is available is a German Bible written from the 16th century. So my question, where are those artifacts?

Steven Rodas | For The Jersey Journal

Did you know the earliest New Jersey settlement was in Jersey City in the year 1660, known back then as Old Bergen?

Plenty of other historical tidbits as well as an in-depth look at New Jersey and Hudson County will be featured at the 2014 Hudson County History Fair on Oct. 18.

The Hudson County History Advocates will present the fair, which has been a year in the making, by gathering over forty Hudson County organizations at New Jersey City University for historical workshops, film presentations, talks by authors and historians and children's activities.

"The event is part of New Jersey's 350th anniversary and we're trying to make people more aware of our history, we hope to achieve that with over 40 organizations providing unique historical perspectives," said Robert Foster, director of the Hoboken Historical Museum and member of the Hudson County History Advocates.

The fair kicks off at 10 a.m. at the Student Union Building at the NJCU campus, located at 2039 Kennedy Blvd.
